Any Anime/Manga fans here?

Studio ghibli aside I prefer the darker more violent ones. Can't really stand too much wide eyed cutesy stuff. hellsing (series and ultimate) is a great series, darker than black, vampire hunter d bloodlust is an awesome film as is spriggan and ninja scroll (good series too)

gets good around 1.30

Didn't he introduce it? Loved it when I was a nipper.

I'm not a fan but am told that it genre contains some incredible stories.

Can you recommend a good series of something for me to try out?
Attack on Titan.

So many story layers and doesn't paint anyone as holier than thou.

Anime...there are many great anime series out there.

I will always recommend "One Piece" for any one who wants to watch anime. It is my favorite anime. It started airing around 2000 (I think, based on my memory!) and is still on-going.
It is one of the best animes in handling "fillers" (i.e. story that is not in original Manga/script); unlike Naruto's fillers which are usually lame and kills the interest in the series.

Naruto and Naruto Shippuden are still recommended for watching (if you know the fillers' episodes, you can think of skipping them and to concentrate on the original story)

If you like swords/samurai anime; then I would recommend "Rurouni Kenshin" and "Samurai Shamploo".

If you are looking for sports-based anime, then: Hajime no Ippo (Boxing), One Outs (Baseball), Cross Game (Baseball), Eyeshield 21 (American Football), Slam Dunk (Basketball), Capeta (Kart racing/racing) & Prince of Tennis (Obviously Tennis!).

If you are looking for Robots/Mecha anime; then you might try watching a Gundam series. For a Super robot anime, you can try GaoGaiGar.

Other notable series that come to my mind are: Fullmetal Alchemist, Full Metal Panic, Bleach, Fairy Tail.

Hope this help; enjoy!

I started with quiet a few including naruto , but now mainly due to time & work , watch only One Piece which is by far the most consistently awesome anime / manga series.

I started watching in 2007( it started around '99) - 708 anime episodes in and the way the Oda ( the author /Genius) has scripted it looks good for another 700 more without dragging.

Definitely recommended !

Finished reading Gantz, Naruto and The Breaker, caught up with Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari, Btoom and The Gamer, in process of reading Dice but have given up on that for now so going to give the reading a break for a bit and start watching Fairy Tale don't know much about it.

If anyone likes black comedy/crime then check out Baccano, the two characters Miria and Isaac are brilliant, they're a married couple who perform robberies, Isaac is incredibly dumb and Miria just believes everything he says so it's a great comedy duo!

I used to love Pokémon as a kid, that's as far as it goes for me. Not even sure that counts. Fuck it, it's oriental.

My daughter is anime and manga mad.
She has absolutely loads of books, loves spending her money on anything anime/manga.
She even did a drawing for one of her mock exams.
Usually it's my job to try to make something she's seen somewhere or other, last thing I made was the guns from death the kid (soul eater).
Cheapest I could find online were nearly £100, I made them for about £7 : )
Now she wants a saruhiko Fushimi sword, £160 for some shit plastic sword, just can't find a similar sword to base it on.
Why couldn't she be into barbie like normal girls : )

That had everything. Really challenged me plot wise.

I'm watching one punch man at the moment. I find the dry humour funny..

I've started on One Punch man also, there have been some moments where I've found myself pissing myself with laughter.

On first impressions of fairy tale (watched 4 episodes last night) there's some humour in it and the action is pretty good as well, I decided to go for the sub version rather than the dubbed.

My missus has started fairy tale. She's struggling with it at the moment. She has a rule of watching the first 5 and if they don't grab her she doesn't bother.

Soul Eater was fun too.

I've heard of Soul Eater but never really looked into it, just googled it then and it's got a high rating on My Anime List, just had a quick read up about it and I might give that one a watch too!

I've been drawn in by Fairy Tail it normally takes me about 5-8 episodes to get into an Anime anyway especially the long ones like Fairy Tail.....

I've found watching animes in Japanese with English subtitles makes them a lot easier and better to watch as I find some English dubbed ones are really poorly done.
I think only Naruto and Death Note are the only English dubbed animes I really liked as the voice acting in them is brilliant. I watched an Anime called Parasyte about a year ago in subbed and it became one of my favourite animes of all time, I heard they did a dubbed version so I decided to compare it and only managed to watch the first episode in dubbed it was that badly done.

I prefer watching subbed but the missus liked dubbed. I feel they miss something and some of the actors dubbing don't seem to portray the roles as well.
