Racial abuse on train?

They are first and foremost human beings.
If they are guilty then secondly they are racist human beings.

A guy goes and kills loads of people in a college shootout in America, aand might specifically target black students.... you don't fucking see the media over there finding out what team the gun man supports.

In all my years following City I've never once witnessed racial issues. Maybe it's just me.

I don't see City fans as racist. Maybe a few in the 70's but that was a long time ago.
 
I remember an incident away against Sheff Utd 90/91 season. It was an Asian ref in charge, and a voice behind me screamed in my ear " take no shit off a p*** Whitey", as White was reprimanded by him. It definitely has existed over the years.

You're very lucky then, I've heard racist comments from isolated City fans at Hamburg (mainly directed at Benjani post-match) and since then at Everton (at Pienaar) and Newcastle (at Yaya). Nobody would suggest that City fans are racist as a whole but we definitely have a few in the ranks.
 
It seems like some people are in total denial that there could possibly be people out there who are both city fans and racists. Why wouldn't there be? Because we're not a "racist club"?

Ive witnessed the odd racially motivated incident from city fans. I still don't think that means we're a racist club. Nor do I think we're a sexist club even though ive witnessed a pissed up guy assault a female friend on the way into Wembley.

Some people are dying to believe that everybody who happens to support the same team as them is a nice person but unfortunately some people are just bastards.

Some of our fans, albeit a very very small proportion of them, ARE twats. I dont see the need to deny their existence. Im happy to take instances like this as a good opportunity to weed them out and tell them to fuck off to be honest.
 
I heard a dickhead up in 305 (he was pissed) shout 'look at all the darkies in the wall'. This was two seasons ago v Chelsea. I'm not making it up, he actually used the word 'darkies'. I called him a dick, and his mates looked suitably embarrassed by him.

I've not read the whole thread, so maybe it's been covered, but I do find the claim that grown men were kicking the toilet door down and racially abusing the lad to be a little unbelievable. I'm more inclined to believe that comments were made about the two lads and their white parents - dickheads will always be dickheads, and City have their share.

Good post mate. It's ridiculous that some people think City fans are incapable of being dickheads. Every club has some bellends in their support, and I've seen a fair few at City over the years.

I've no doubt we have some racists amongst our support and if it's true in this case and they are identified then they should be banned. But it's the way the MEN report it that gets me.

Another thing they all had in common on that train was that they were all Virgin passengers, so it could have said 'drunken Virgin passengers racially abuse 14 year old boy'. They want to create the association between 'racist' and 'football supporters' for effect, and on this occasion Man city supporters in particular.

Racists are racists and yes, some of them will support City and some of them wil no doubt shop at Waitrose and read the Daily Mail.

Ric - I think you meant you've been a few in your time!

Never fails to amuse me that there is a touching belief that being City fans somehow makes us immune to being dickheads.

It's the same train of thought that makes Liverpool fans believe they're all innately better, more loyal and knowledgeable than any other fans.
