Racial abuse on train?

No evidence has been provided which is quite bizzare considering the camera situation ( but I bet it was fuck all compared to Eric pollards tirade in emmerdale which I must say took me back forty years)

What evidence do you want? The police might have checked CCTV and currently identifying the accused. Just because there isn't a video doing the round son twitter doesn't mean there isn't any evidence.

I find it strange that people are trying to deny this incident happened. Why would this family bother making up such a story? A quick check of the trains CCTV by the police would reveal if there was an incident or not.

I also find it bizarre people are calling bullshit on the story because they haven't said what racial insults were hurled at the boy. What does it matter? In the eyes of the victim he's been racially abused and that's all that matters. Not whether non-Asian readers think it's racist or not.

Okay I don't think the city fans were trying to kick the toilet door down, but can ppl not see a scenario where the boy is being abused, he goes to the toilet to remove himself from the situation and is followed, and there's a bit of banging on the door to intimidate him further? To the boy in the toilet it would feel and sound like they were trying to kick the door down.

Arguing against your self a bit there. Surely if it happened as reported, the easiest way to sort it would be to release the CCTV, decent City fans would identify them, they'd be arrested and game over. And I wholeheartedly disagree with your comment that "In the eyes of the victim he's been racially abused and that's all that matters". The facts should determine whether he has or not.

The facts are he feels he was racially abused and that's what matters. If he feels he wasn't racially abused it wouldn't have been reported to the police and be in the newspaper. My point is, we as readers of the article do not need to know what was actually said, all we need to know is that the victim feels he was racially abused.

People on this thread are calling bullshit because the actual words said to him weren't in the article.

People are calling bullshit because a week later no evidence whatsoever has been brought forward, in cases like this cctv or mobile vids do the rounds within hours of the incidents.

As I've said above, just because there isn't a mobile phone vid doing the rounds doesn't mean that he didn't happen.
The article clearly outlines the fact that the transport police are investigating.

Let's imagine a scenario where the incident is reported the day after and the family are invited to a police station to give a statement a few days later. Then the transport police have to request the CCTV from virgin trains, the police probably haven't even seen the CCTV footage yet. It happened less than a week ago ffs!

I'm not saying either way if it happened or not , if it did they want shaming and banning, but with the way the world of social media works every tiny incident with a crowd involved is filmed and online in days, you appear to be part of the guilty until proven innocent brigade. I prefer facts to back up things.

You appear to be part of the deny every incident has happened unless there's a video on social media brigade'

Amazing that so many people want to speculate one way or another about this. If it turns out to be true then condemn those that are guilty but for fucks sake quit making assumptions, that goes for both sides of this argument.

If there's a police investigation why would you expect the evidence to be on Youtube? We all just need to stop coming down strong on either side of this argument until the investigation is complete, and the dickheads (if indeed there were any) are suitably punished.

I hope your'e not my next Judge. You almost hope it happened.

I'm part of the, let's see some evidence and facts brigade, it really is the best and only way to find out what happened, anything else is just hearsay.

In a crowded train with singing drunk football fans there is always vids of one type or another, and the police also use YouTube evidence as part of their investigations in these types of things.

I don't hope it happened at all.
Here's the thing. I've got myself in trouble on a train after a match before. Not for racist abuse, that's not my cup of tea. But for general ballooning, singing, foul language and for causing distress to other passengers. A complaint was made and I got an £80 fine. That was when I was younger and I've grown up and seen the light since then.
There was a carriage load of people and thankfully no video was taken by a fellow passenger of that 3 hour journey back from London.

I can't believe people actually think this family have fabricated a story out of thin air here. It's actually bordering on Liverpool levels of delusion and denial

I wasn't questioning whether or not this family were lying I hope if its true they do get the wankers involved I was going off other incidents in the past having video evidence and also I don't do social media and I also agree with a lot you say good luck to them

Sorry, but I'm not having that for one minute. There either was racial abuse or there wasn't. If person A calls person B a buffoon, there is no racial abuse just because person B may feel or want to claim there was.

Reasoning isn't really that important because without the facts reasoning is just pure conjecture.
