Tell you something, some of them don't like being called Rags over on Rag Cafe - some right fucking mard arses over there who really should take up following a more genteel sport if they can't handle a bit of rivalry and a few unflattering comments.

I reckon most of them simply don't understand or aren't used to the sheer tribalism that fans in and around Manchester will have experienced. They probably exist in an environment where they're given no stick or possibly even admired for being rags.

They didn't even try to win. They clearly don't want to win the title. Without Aguero and Silva you have to go for it if you're at home.
They tried that in 2012 when they came to ours and were clearly desperate to get that point that would keep us three points behind. They didn't have one shot on target that game but they didn't stop us scoring.

I reckon you're right. It makes for a strange forum though because you see some posts that weirdly give our team a lot of credit that you would never see reciprocated on here yet on the other hand they can't get their heads round the tribalism that regular match-goers or local fans might experience.

This Chris Smalling over reaction is now reaching comedic proportions. Wayne Rooney has labelled him as being in the top 3 in the world. It's arguable that he's not in the top 3 in Manchester. He's certainly not as good as Kompany nor would you even think about swapping him for Mangala or Otamendi.

At United, he is protected by Schneiderlein and by Schweinsteiger and his team play possession based low risk football. He's rarely left exposed. We played a similar style of football yesterday and look at the difference in Otamendi - and that was against a title rival. Imagine how good our centre backs would look against a mid table team with us playing that style of football. It's laughable really. He has improved but fuck me....top 3 in the world?

Tactical turtle might look like an escaped mental patient and talk like an escaped mental patient but he's very experienced and knows a good team when he sees one. He's seen more than enough of United to know, deep down, that they aren't equipt to win the league. He'll have been happy to take a point before the game started on Sunday, his players will have been under strict instruction NOT to lose that game by going for the win too much. City were happy to take the point too, but that was more down to our shortcomings up top, with Aguero, Silva and Nasri all unavailable. If we'd had a fully fit squad to chose from then I strongly suspect we wouldn't have gone with quite so defensive an approach to the game.

I reckon he's not top 3 in his own household.

Lol hes come out with a cracker in the MUEN. Man city were hanging on against us, says Chris smiling. I think somebody is begining to believe his own hype. Lol he's fucking wank.
If he's top 3 in the world, looks like real madrid and barca will be fighting for super chris smalling.

The thing about Rooney today that strikes me is that nobody dares to compare him with Ronaldo and Messi anymore.
The comparison with Ronaldo is all the more remarkable when one looks at the way they have both developed as footballers and athletes from very similar beginnings.
I know the guy can't do anything about his genetics (hair plugs, notwithstanding) but it's abundantly clear which of the two has looked after himself better.
The 'White Pele' has gone to seed and it would take a turnaround of miraculous proportions for his form to get back to anything remotely like the kid who burst onto the scene at Everton.... And they're stuck with him!
Bwaaahahahaha.... Woohoo hoo... Hardy har har har... Oh my sides...

Rooney never has been nor ever will be a contender for Ballon D'Or. That's how world class he is.

That was the stand out thing for me from the recent sycophantic bbc documentary - just how good he was at eighteen/twenty. Makes it even sweeter that he's now washed up and signed up for £300k a week (that's every week you lurking cunts) for another four years. Lol.

What's funny is the way the handful of local rags play along, pretending that City are of no consequence to them. It's an incredible exercise in doublethink, as anyone who lives or works locally will attest to, if they're being honest. To suggest that City supporters are nothing but a minor distraction to local rags is an utter lie. If you work and live in the same city as supporters from another club, and you are both frequently competing for the title, and you care about your club, how can it be any other way? If it doesn't meanigfully bother you, then I reckon you can't be that arsed about your club in the first place.

It's hugely different to united supporters from elsewhere, I completely get that; especially places where united are dominant and City are largely ignored in terms of support, particularly if those places are on other continents. Here, once again, logic suggests that their attitude and disposition towards our club will be hugely different and much less intense, as they don't have to deal with all the stuff that arises from sharing a city with another club and its supporters. Maybe their attitude to City and its 'rag hating' supporters could be described as one of baffled amusement. Certainly not the same emotions they feel towards Liverpoool or Arsenal, or even close, quite possibly.

For local supporters, however, the looming presence of each respective rival is perennial. If you work on the broadly accurate basis that Manchester is roughly split 50/50, any suggestion to the contrary is absurd and suggests a need on behalf of united fans to perpetuate a narrative (as frequently advanced by Ferguson) of City's utter irrelevance as a stick to beat us with.

Given our current place in the footballing firmament, where we've come from, and how we got there, as well as its total unexpectedness, to suggest that City are an irrelevance to united fans who live and work in the same city simply does not bear any logical scrutiny to anyone who properly applies their mind to it.

You can't change human nature and the tribalism that courses through it.

Anyone who disagrees should spend five minutes in the company of me and my dad.

The fucking rag cnut.

Did your Dad write that?

It's actually a good read.

I wouldnt be remotely surprised if he'd ghost-written Taggart's latest revisionist work of fiction.

He was utterly unbearable after the game yesterday, as per fucking usual.

A combination of Clattenburg, as well as our negative tactics and monumental good luck as conspired to rob united of a fully deserved victory. I remember him blaming the 6-1 on Clattenburg too. If I hadn't had to endure 40 years of it, I'd probably find it amusing rather than utterly fucking tragic ;-)
