Official: City sign Enes Ünal

A 2 year loan for a youngster is suspicious. I've always said if a player doesn't make the first team by 21 then their future is pretty bleak, by the time Unal gets back he'll be 20 which gives him 1 year to cement a place in the team, that's if (like you said) we haven't made a numerous amount of additions to our strike force by then.

Reckon this lad was probably just bought in to make a healthy profit out of in the future.
I believe it's work permit related with Turkey not being full members of the EU. Not suspicious at all just red tape.

I presume that there will be built in options to recall after a specific time, perhaps a full season. For those who compare this lad to previous young players who have disappeared once they went on loan I believe we are scouting a much higher quality now. Not to say he will return and be first team ready but the fact is he may do that, the business model of player recruitment is now more professional. If he improves and still doesn't fit into our first team plans then we will be able to sell on for a lot more than the £2m he has cost. Finally from all accounts this lad has a very good attitude and genuinely seems delighted to have signed for us.

It's the response you get when actually saying something positive about the club, the players, the management or the fans
God knows what sad pathetic lives some of these miserable cunts actually live?

Not sure if that's in reference to me but could you please cut out the unprovoked, personal abuse if so.

I'm not saying that this is the case with Unal or any of the lads we've signed this season but do you reckon the club sign these lads at 17/18 on the cheap with the hope to then sell them on a few years later for a profit with no intention of involving them in the first team ever?

Not exactly, but they obviously know that most of them will end up in that situation.

They're only buying or bringing in the very best or those with the most potential. Not all will work out and there may literally be no room for some. Regardless they'll all have the best footballing education (and for the younger ones, general education) that you can get so they'll go on and have a good football career. In 10 or 20 years time you'll find City educated footballers absolutely everywhere.

Genk, home of Courtois, KDB, Divock Origi, and Benteke. Not a bad place to learn for 2 years.

Just watched Genk v Charleroi and he was not even on the pitch and Genk are shite....is he injured...what is the point of buying this lad, dont get it.Saw him in the friendly pre season and he is slower than Guidetti.

So he didn't play one game and didn't run fast in a preseason game = no point in buying him

I think you could possibly jumping the gun a tad there

I am puzzled by the purchase unless we are doing a Chelsea, buying players who have a limited chance of the first team but we could sell on at a profit.
My own opinion is you need pace upfront & he appears to lack it.
Was more the fact he has gone on loan but on the bench last night was the point I was making.

I genuinely can't believe he wrote that article! It's immense. An eighteen year old footballer who writes in his spare time, reads, admires culture and references cult indie films like In Brugges. And he looks like the main guy feel a Final Fantasy game. Love him loads more already.

2-zizzurrip - if you click on 'view: original' you'll see a few YT music vids he included for flavor that didn't make it thru the translation software

And he's a Beatles fan! God I hope he's successful, seems to be a great lad.

"Greatest son of my mother" google translate doesn't half make things seem more epic. I don't think this is a 'chelsea' personally, we've signed a a very good talent and put him where we think he'd develop most, Genk has a track record when it comes to making youngsters better. I think Nacho man being 3rd choice suggests that we always allow a young striker to potentially fight for a place, in a couple years that might be Unal ;)

He's only there because of work permit issues although I've no doubt he'd be somewhere on loan but it did force our hand.
