Sevilla v City post match thread

Last night was one of the best footballing displays ive seen for quite a long time from City, we were amazing. But also it was the best display from a referee i have ever seen in Europe!! He didnt fall for any of the crap Sevilla were trying to get away with. Alot of our attacks came from after Sevilla thought, incorrectly, that they were fould.

I just thought this could make an interesting discussion, did anyone else notice this? And also do you think City would have done a lot better in Europe in the past if we just had competent Officials?

PS Fernandinho is God like...

Thought he was good and let a lot of stuff go that he should have. Fernandinho should have had a pen in the first couple of mins but they might have had one when Fernando tripped their player in the box on half time. Fair enough he was consistent at least in that sense

We have had some shockers in the CL from the gutless ones refusing to give us penalties at Munich, the refusal to give a penalty v Ajax in the last minute when Mario was rugby tackled to the ground a few yards from the ref and the useless twats behind the goal to the worst ever in Moscow which spring to mind and these have affected the results. We have had 1 or 2 decisions go our way also, the penalty v Dortmund was soft and the goal v Juventus could have been ruled out but in all we have had a lot more decisions against us than for us

To be honest i completely forgot about the penalty we should have had haha, probs because we demolished them shortly aftwards anyway haha

One of the best referee performances so far. He was composed and didn't give Sevilla any homefield calls.

The refereeing in our CL games this season has been outstanding. Been impressed with all of them, even the one we lost.

Stark contrast to years gone by.

I agree, so do you think this has had a negative effect on us in the past? Maybe if we had officials who knew how to referee a games in the past we may have done better?

I thought he was very favourable to City, missed 2 nailed on penalties, 1 each side.

He let the game be played.

I wouldn't call him good, just good for us.

Don't know if anyone else has mentioned this in these forty pages (can't be arsed reading through, etc.) but full kudos to the lads who travelled. I thought the away support was fantastic last night. You could really hear us on the telly. As good as the performance on the pitch.
This might seem weird, but I appreciated the second half just as much as the first. We finally played a textbook European game — patrolling every yard of the pitch, not letting them in, always on the look-out to hurt them more. Leading 3-1, no need to take risks, just close it all down. If we can play like that regularly, we can go far this time.

loved the fight in midfield last night, real bite and you always thought that centrally we were dominating

Still smiling after last night,
Quick question, anyone know if stadium booed, sounded as if theme tune turned up. Also noticed there didn't appear to be the theme tune at juve when watched highlights.
Have we started a trend?
I believe rags f@cked up and booed at the wrong time

Anyone who saw the opening game, when it was more or less the same players involved would have predicted a long hard night for City.

Maybe it was just one of those nights where all the players clicked. Sterling still shone. That was an outstanding performance from him
