Villa Vs City Post Match Thread

Did Pelligrini cost us the match? Yes.

Were we also unlucky and blotched three chances inside the 6? You betcha.

Should Pelligrini be sacked, sent back to Chile in a crate and forced to tend to the llamas for the rest of his life? Absolutely not. Some very negative posts on here. It is frickin head scratcher why he would play without a striker.

A strange quote from Pellegrini post match. ''"Without Bony and without Sergio Aguero we don't have a player who plays inside the box. We have to try and work without them." That sounds like he doesn't have a lot of faith in the young lad although he is still learning the game i guess. We are too light up front this season and i hope it doesn't cost us.

Today after about 20 minutes you just felt it was going to be one of those days, away against the bottom club, new manager, everyone expecting us to win and coming off a great performance and 'Typical City' turn up. We have seen a fair few games like this in the last few seasons and we usually lose them 1-0 so i guess today was an improvement lol! Joking aside there sometimes seems to be a lack of that inner grit and sheer almost nasty desire to get games like this by the scruff of the neck, bully what is inferior opposition and win.I hate to compare us to the rags but their great sides all had this insane desire to win,if you beat them in those days you had left everything on the pitch and had a bit of luck.We need some of that desire in some of these players to go with their undoubted talent.

How did he cost us the match? My only quibble is starting the season with 3 strikers-one who is injury prone and one a rookie.

If he is saying that then the decision to go into a season with two strikers is really baffling. Who thought that would be a good idea with a very injury prone Aguero being one of them. Very odd.

Illogical to believe a striker has more chance of converting chances than a midfielder? How so? A midfielder should have better passing stats than a striker, if fernando got injured and we put kelechi centre mid would it be illogical then if he misplaced all his passes?

I don't think you'd understand if I tried to explain. because you haven't read 'Use and Abuse of Statistics'

We must be a wet dream to the managers of struggling teams.

Still, at least we are a point better off and we'll see where Villa are at the end of the season. CTID.

8 wins, 2 draws = good form. Some flappers on here.

3 wins in the last 7 and No away wins in three and one goal scored in them. Stats don't mean anything when quoted without context.

Overall we are in a good spot, mainly due to our blistering start.

I think it's fair to say that today was a disappointment surely? No need for the individual abuse that some are getting but not beating a side who have 4 points is disappointing, there are no ways around that.

Still can't fathom how we didn't win that match.
Way too ponderously slow in the first half. No one getting into the box quickly enough to get a pass from Sterling or Navas in the second.

How did Pellegrini stop KDB and Fernandinho and Sterling scoring from six yards?

You're a fucking joke. You're the worst fan I've ever seen on here. Your constant thrombies bely the mentality and aptitude of a preteen.

Why do you even fucking bother 'supporting' a football team? That's a serious question.

And before any no mark newcomer things I'm over reacting, read this lads posts for a year and then tell me I'm wrong.
More bullshit attacks from you? Grow the fuck up and be an adult for once. And you called me sensitive you little girl.

I think we were really poor today. We started off so slowly and sluggish. It meant that when we did start stringing some good attacks together villa had something to hold on to. I also feel that when Pellegrini makes his changes He doesn't actually have a proper plan. Anyway the positives are that we are still 4 points better off against the same teams as last season, we have silva and aguero back soon and we know we can do better.
Tbh, I don't think we played badly at all, I just think Pellegrini got a couple of key things wrong which made life harder than it needed to be. I would have started with the same line up as we did in Seville for the exact same reasons. We were away and the home team desperately needed a result. The next thing that defied all tactical logic was not bringing on a striker for a striker so early on in the game and for me this was the main and biggest single reason why we looked as toothless as a veteran crack head today.

Hopefully Spurs will do us a favour this afternoon.

Was quite surprised that we afforded Villa so much respect in the opening minutes; we dropped off and allowed them to pass it around and gain confidence, without pressing or leaving a foot in. Wonder if that sort of decision is managerial or something the players dictate?

Another point further clear of Chelsea. 12 points clear. I,ll take that. Arsenal will implode as usual. Manure won't be any threat. Silva and Aguero about to come back from long term injuries. Why flap?!!! It will only make you feel ill.

Teams are breaking their necks left and right to make sure the rags beat them
Meanwhile they play the game of their lives against us, away and at home!
Not thinking the scum will give us a run for our money is just pure arrogance

Some people just don't know when we've got in good. Always fucking greener elsewhere. This entitlement to win every game is so self righteous and raggie.
We were fucking shit less than 10 years ago, now an away point is calamitous. Grow up

Do we also set our club revenue expectations today to what they were 10 years ago?

the amount of injuries cost us today, there was no snap to the passing, having those 4/5 players would of enabled us to freshen things up, ah well, international break now, fingers crossed everyone comes back fit.

we had two defo goals I say defo because both should of been put away, the penalty was a hard one to call for the ref ,but it was defo a penalty.

Get Kun and David back and we will be flying.
We will win it with 3 games to spare.

It is on the BBC website on the match report. I thought we would suffer up front this season and that it was crazy to let Dzeko go.For all his faults he scored goals and i feel we will miss him this season.
