Villa Vs City Post Match Thread

Their cup final today, or it seemed like it, both in terms of the passion and desire of their players (new manager) and fans (Delph).

The KDB and Sterling chances we golden, but, you cant win 'em all and its a point away from home. League position less of a factor in England anyway as the premier league is so competitive, so I'm not too surprised by many 'upset' results nowadays, and so dont buy the 'they are bottom so we should have hammered them' line.

Still top - happy days.

If we were to adopt the usual approach from pundits where one of their favoured teams is concerned and the word 'deserve' comes in to play, we would have won today on the basis of deserving a greater return for the effort applied. But it's all down goals and yer can have one of those days when millimetres conspire against us.

We are still prone to sloppy results and I think that's what the issue is more than one game. This is two points lost for me and West Ham was three points lost. We have actually won 3 of our last 7 prem games and none of our last 3 away with only 1 goal scored so it does need picking up again.

Or you could twist the presentation of the figures and say we're unbeaten in the last 5 league games yet lost 2 in the 5 league games before that. Improvement :)

Or we could look at the big picture and say since the Spurs and West Ham defeats we have gone on an unbeaten run in all competions of 9 games with 7 wins and 2 draws. Improvement:)

It could turn out to be an important point but any point away in this league is commendable.

I don't really agree with this if you are trying to win the league averaging a point away is simply not enough. A point is a disappointing result against Villa who have looked poor all season. Having said that the performance was hardly disastrous a bit sub par but we will win far more games than we draw if we play like that and were a wee bit unlucky.

For all the hysteria about the managerial performance I don't know a single manager whose teams do not give sub par performances on occasions, though I have to agree with comments that Iheanacho could have come on earlier.

It could turn out to be an important point but any point away in this league is commendable. Manuel will be happy enough now Arsenal didn't take advantage at home.
Me and you rarely agree George, but good post, and as disappointed with the result as I am today, I'd like Villa to be given some credit, especially Micah who was excellent, and I'm glad it looks like its working out for him, even if I don't think he'll ever be full time CB.

Disappointing result but Arsenal dropping points kind of cancels it out.

Top of the Premier League, in the Quarter Final of the League Cup and through to the last 16 of the Champions League with the imminent returns of Silva and Aguero.

Could be worse.

Yeah, the Arsenal result made me feel a whole lot better. It's beginning to look like they will be the biggest threat

Top of the league with Merlin and Sergio to come back

We have come through a run of games since the last international break without our best players. We're still top of the league, (not that it is too important at this stage, so long as you're thereabouts) and had a great result in Europe. Pardon me for not being too pissed off.

The only downer is my soft spot for Villa disappearing right after that twat Gestede pulled that stunt and they contested the corner.

8/11/15
Top of the league. Yes
Last 8 league cup. Yes
Round of 16 champs league. Yes
Two of the top five players in the league back soon. Yes

Sack the manager? NO

We beat Sevilla the other day in style, at the moment we look like a prem winning side if not potential champions league finalists. We had a bad game, 1 bad game, people are clearly flapping and booing players, what are we fkin Utd?

It's not flapping to say something negative about the club. Pellegrini deserves the criticism for this, just like he deserved the plaudits midweek. Yes it's not the end of the world and we're still in a great position but there's nothing wrong with people criticising the manager today, we should be two points further ahead, we lost games like this last season and that's why we lost the title.

Where was the boo's? I was on row D and didn't hear any boo's at the end of the match. Just singing, mainly for Delph.

Might I remind you that that FUCKING DIRE united side are TWO points behind us. Two.

In a combined City United 11, I wouldn't pick one of their players, not one. And they are TWO points behind us. We should be fucking embarrassed.

Don't worry. The rags will soon give up and let us win the league like chavski did last year.

That was a banana skin game and we didn't get beat. But we were so wasteful with the opportunities we got.

I had a bit of a meltdown when Joe did that stupid thing near the end of the game. Why didn't he just let the ball go out for a goal kick.

Ok Chippy Boy (or should I say Drama Boy), plrease stop fecking whining. We didn't win today, but the lads turned up and tried. We're not gonna win every single game - no fecker does - but we turned up and 'tried' to win the game. The fact that you have the audacity to compare us with a team that doesn't even try to play football makes me sick to my teeth, and your idea of what is embarrassing seems to be to compare us with the way that the shite across the way play, and where they stand at this moment, with only a third of the games played. That simply tells me you should have a long hard look at the team you supposedly support, where we have come from, and where we are now! Take a long hard look, chippy boy.

Fecking rant over!!!!!

Lost opportunity to open a small gap and give ourselves some wiggle room for future fuck ups. We always do things the hard way. Top of the league lalala and all that.

You weren't alone, no matter what the Villa player did, it was still idiotic, and had it cost us a goal, I'd have happily slated him for it, it annoyed me that he was waiting for the corner with a stupid grin like a little kid who'd nicked the last biscuit, just as well nothing came from it.
