We just have to let our security services continue to do a great job. Also any time a family member disappears to fight for Isis Etc we come down on that family and associates like a tonne of bricks to ensure the extremism cancer is not spreading. Religion is like anything a tool used by people for power, for wealth and to protect status, an excuse for people to try and impose their will. Liberals are intelligent enough to know if you want your ideology to win you have to a) understand the enemy , you have to b) remove the excuses your enemy uses and weaken their position and c) you have to defeat Your ENEMY.

Simpletons believe you can win by defeating people who look like your enemy, that you can defeat an enemy just by force not by defeating their ideology and believe that a solution should be easy and take 5 minutes.

ISIS is like a cancer you can try and ignore cause, ignore cures, ignore research and hit it with a big blast of old fashioned medicine just before death comes or you can try and understand it, try and change the factors that can feed it and try and research it, to find a real long term cure.

You never defeat an enemy you don't understand and you never sweat an enemy without defeating its ideology!

I have not seen anyone give excuses for this barbarism , I have seen the more articulate trying to understand the root causes as only tackling those will win this war.

But if you think there is a simple , were really hard solution to this other than invading occupying and disarming countries with about 3 billion people in them to disarm this or shutting off Britain and never letting anyone else in or out ever again you will be sadly disillusioned very quickly as George W Bush simple gung Ho right wing nonsense doesnt work .

Of course religion has a part of it, just like religion had a part in much of the troubles, like religion had a major part of the KKK hanging blacks, like religion had a part in most of George W Bush and Rumsfelds politics, or justifies abortion clinic killers or Brevik or whoever No one denies that.

What I would argue is you don't attack a religion of hundreds of millions be it Catholicism, Islam or Baptist because a tiny minority of members twist the ideology and use it to kill. You have to show up the murderers for what they are murderers.
