Attacks in Paris

I personally do not think its a religious thing, it's an attack on feedom, free speech and the right to follow any religion, if any. IS have killed Christians and Muslims well as probably Hindus, Jews and Atheists. Basically they are a death cult he'll bent on the destruction of civilised society.

Be nice if the title of this thread was changed to "the same 12 blokes arguing about religion on Bluemoon".
The breaking news of Abbouds (sp) timely demise has somewhat disappeared under the mountain of argument and counter argument. You still reside in Paris BS, how are things there now? (if you do obviously)

The idea of facing justice is always a nice fanciful notion but these are stone cold heartless bastards I doubt he'd have coughed up anything useful, especially given the only means we have of extracting such info from him would have been to ask him ever so nicely. The fact the subhuman scumbag has been despatched at least means he can't "mastermind" the deaths of any more innocent people.
Don't think that the rule book won't go out the window when interrogating these. They'll crack easily, most are deluded young men who have been brainwashed.

So it's abusive to suggest that maybe more than 1% of Muslims are involved in, support or know anything at all about terrorist activities yet it's fine to suggest that 99% of Jews support crimes against Palestinians.
It was a grossly exaggerated percentage to draw attention to the ludicrous made up figures that other have spouted.

@Prestwich_Blue has provided figures that I am not in a position to argue with. So let's not fall out but just move on. I am a son of West Didsbury, after all.

I am not making a stand. I am simply telling you that it is abusive to suggest that there are 'some' Muslims [whatever that figure is] who are conspiring with terrorists. There clearly are a few. As I said before, an estimated 700 have gone to Syria [some children, sadly].
In the end, you are talking about, what, a few thousand people across the UK? Out of 2 million. Way less than one percent. And you expect the 2 million to know about it? Seriously? Once again, how?

Hmm...doesn't this highlight the problem with interpreting text to suit one's own cause though?

Some = an unspecified amount (which clearly shouldn't be problematic, as it can mean 1 or more).
A few = usually more than 1, two or more, etc. (which again, in the context shouldn't be problematic).

I honestly can't see a problem with this.

I've written something for @Lucky Toma /the daisy cutter which sums up how i feel. I don't really care about the arguments being had in this thread. They're pretty insignificant.

The extra spacing to add impact - also a sure indication of the slow-witted it's been said. The thing about religious fundamentalists is that they are not all terrorists and as an atheist fundamentalist yourself I'm sure you'll agree. Anyway I'm sure if you stick to regurgitating the twitter rantings of Dawkins and Harris et al you'll be in no danger of any reasonable contribution to this debate

It might have been said, but only by you, I think, George.

Have you never considered how effective a single-sentence paragraph can be?

Just seen the footage from the pizzeria where the gunman looks to either have run out of bullets or the gun has misfired, whilst stood over some poor woman pointing his gun at close range.

Wow. One lucky lady.

Actually you stated it as fact but thanks for withdrawing it.

As patronising as ever, I see. I'd be grateful if you'd remove your magnificence from this thread and got back to your 'important stuff'. Ta.

Ah, hoped nobody would remember but as GDM said at the time, I would rue the day I alienated all the forum intellectuals. There is a doubtless a time for the occasional bit of isolating emphasis but it's essentially a conceit. If used habitually it would probably double the bandwith consumption as well.
