JB came on at MF in the 68th min today - watched his stint. Cambuur got a man sent off at 85, so last few mins were just protecting the 1-1 draw. The time in between he played well. Cambuur earned the equalizer and really pressured for the lead. Jack's vision and mid/long range passing stood out, nicely sending guys into space going forward several times. He's small and and gets beat on long sprints with ease, but he's quick and soft of foot - slides and moves and presents a good target constantly, and his brain was probably the quickest on the pitch. He's fine, certainly not below that level.

Playing up front today for Cambuur against Rusnak's Groningen, 2-0 to Cambuur, Byrne with the assist for the opener.

With the paucity of options open to O'Neill, is he worth a look at before the Euro's at senior international level?

doubt it the likes of O'Kane and yer man Gleeson at Birmingham would be there ahead of him at least. Would also rather see Richie Towell from Dundalk ahead of him aswell. Still though if he has a great second half off the season no reason why he cant throw his name in the hat

The 'Off The Ball' podcast interviewed Byrne with a mind towards his inclusion in Ireland's plans as an up-and-comer -

tl;dr version - just scan the article for Jack's quotes
If you wanna listen to his interview - click the 'play' button at the bottom of the article -
on the page that opens up there is a gray scroll bar across the very top - click at about 75% to find the start of his interview

And also, the SC Cambuur YT team sure loves them some Jack Byrne - https://www.youtube.com/user/SCCambuurTV/videos

Thanks man, that's a very interesting interview from Jack, but that sounds like him. He seems to be a great guy and a very good footballer

Again, well done Jack; great vision, quick. Just bad luck with all the mutations in the team, especially the defense
Although his team lost 5:1 against ajax

The bad thing for Jack Byrne is he was starting to come into a bit of good form for the club and now they are on there winter break scoring a goal and looking good on the ball. In his last game his stats were great for a away match. His pass completion percentage was 94.6 % and getting the goal too its good progress. I think give him another year out on loan to a better team abroad in the Dutch league or Italian league and he could well become a valued member to our first team squad in 2 years time. Playing man football is best thing for Jack.

Why is no one talking about this kid. Playing in a struggling team in Holland, but doing fantastic. In the team every week. I think Pep will bring him into the fold and many will wonder where this name came from. Kid has it all. Astonishingly, the rag that is Keane came out and said he will be world class!

Man, I'm watching his match at the moment and it has jsut come to my mind to write in this topic and then I saw your post ;)

Think he's a Pep type of player who can pass the ball forward by different ways, help the attack, win the ball back and he is a quick box-to-boxer. But he has to work hard or and/or at least, he needs a new challenge because he doesn't [want to?] show his maximum in Eredivise.
