Ref for Southampton.

Lots of bollocks being talked about the ref tonight, like after every game.

They are not bent, they are not biased, they are the best at the job that we have. It's a fast moving game in the PL and at time they will get decisions wrong. Get over it, they are not the only people on the pitch to get decisions wrong. Almost every player on the pitch will do so in every game.

They (the refs) are assessed at each game, what kind of assessment do you think they want? Do you think they want to be seen as a good ref, or a bad ref? Just think about it.

If in doubt read a few refereeing autobiographies.

Oh by the way, I am not and have never been a ref.
You proved it on the pitch today.

There's one who was still reffing last year or the year before who's damned name I can't remember, we had dealings with him in 1999/2000/2001/2002 he somehow made the top level, but was bloody useless (and its not Uriah).

Roger Easts incompetence today was staggering. His decision making was awful - he looked out of his depth and had no idea about how to play the advantage rule. I know all refs have bad games and get criticism but that performance today was the worst all round performance I've seen from a ref since Rob Stiles plied his trade.
Those comments are what I had in mind. I wasn't impressed when I saw him in a game a couple of seasons ago. Today just reinforced my opinion of him - he is absolutely way out of his depth in the EPL. And I shudder to think how crap he would be in Championship games where the pace is so much quicker.
At one stage I got the impression he was reefing a Rugby Union game - refs in those games play advantage for minutes at a time - and Southampton benefitted from one of his cock-ups.

Interesting that, I made a similar comment to my missus when I got home, I wonder if that has influenced him (them) ?

If so then I've no problem with it, so long as its going to be consistently applied, but today it wasn't, for either side, which makes it shit.

Agree wholeheartedly

He was awful today, although I got the feeling it was pure incompetence rather than bias.

I watched the second half of the Everton game today and Friend was atrocious. So blatant too, I'm surprised he wasn't sponsored by Chang.

To say he is bias and cheating like you said, is to suggest his performance today is different from any other game. It's not. He along with the majority of refs are incompetent almost every game. He was terrible but he wasn't cheating.

So why did he bring play back twice when Southampton lost possession after an advantage but failed to do so when we did exactly the same?

Incompetence would mean both teams receiving the same poor judgment but we didn't, did we. The decisions in the opening 10-15 minutes without booking Southampton players I can accept as incompetence but if you're inconsistent in decisions in identical circumstances for each team you can only assume one thing.

I would agree apart from his application of the advantage rule; that was straight out of the Jon Moss inconsistency is your friend book
