Chinese Consortium invests $400m in CFG

It's all money, money, money with some people but this could be the start of some really tasty food at the ground

Oh dear, the rags aren't taking this very well at all. It's all just a plot to circumvent FFP apparently... they are a funny bunch! :)

Not really possible to value the individual clubs but I think we can safely assume that City represent a large part of that £2bn. I don't know what ADUG would do but other investors are certainly a possibility and, as you say, we could sell another 12% without ADUG ceding overall control. India is another market where there is huge development potential for example.

I remember the days when Sky had a stake of 10% that they'd forgotten about and would have taken less than £2m for. That valued us at around £20m whereas today it's £2bn.

My hunch is that the 2 bn is a future value that they're essentially gambling on, rather than right now. Give it a couple of years.

I was sat having breakfast with a rag (small r as I dont think he knows where Manchester is) and a Chelski fan when the news came on the radio.... If I could have framed the look on there faces, you would have thought we had beaten them 6-0 at there home grounds. Many years ago when we first got the money I heard a rhyme which I still use to wind them up. "every time you fill up your car, you help City buy a star".... well I couldn't resist it.... "Every time you have fried rice, you help City get someone nice".
Ha Ha , I will wind a few up with that .

Haven't we as a fanbase moved beyond keeping this discussion at "The rags don't like it tee hee hee" level? Fucking hell. Anyone who is looking at Man United forums or whatever right now has their priorities badly wrong.
It's dead easy to glance over at Redcafe and still be abreast of everything else that's happening. We get it Dave, you're too mature to worry about Utd, Journalists and any other petty nonsense. This still being football though, there are many others who will be enjoying using this as a conversation piece with their mates who happen to be rags/Scousers etc.
That's what happens with rivalries you see. We get good news, we use it to point score. They do the same and the football world turns and turns.
The majority of football fans think like this as I'm sure you know. You just be grateful that you're above it all.

Correct. I feel a right **** for peeking at Rag Cafe now that Dismal has had his say!

Well said!

Point taken but some of our fans are still obsessed with Man United i'm afraid mate. That's also the reason they are also obsessed with how we are reported.

It bugs me because we should be leaving that behind because they are in our shadow now, not the other way around.

I agree to a certain extent mate, but when stuff happens on the magnitude of today's news it's always nice to see how our neighbours are reacting.

Agreed.

Peripheral noise is all it is and completely irrelevant.

Khaldoon promised us all that in the coming years, despite them all thinking we were wrong, they would slowly realise that what we are creating will be the only way forward and boy is it happening and fast.

I can't begin to fathom the implications of all this and won't pretend to. I only know I trust Mansour and Khaldoon.

It won't change how we're perceived, if there is a negative angle it will be used to feed the narrative. That only makes our successes even sweeter.

Even more reason to take the piss

Don't get me wrong, I hate the thick, shallow arrogant cunts and I've got plenty of memories of the empty-headed pricks sneering at us. But I think we play into their hands a bit at times sometimes, that's all.

Anyway, back to the discussion. World domination is inevitable. We are owned by the richest country in the world with assistance from the fast growing economy in the world.

Nice.

You're not a poster I always agree with but on this you are 100% correct.

As the song goes....

"Who the f* are man utd
Who the f* are man utd
Who the f* are man utd"

I'm with Dismal on this one, I'm no longer assed about the swamp dwellers. Yea it's good to have a laugh but I just can't even be bothered singing about them at matches anymore....

They're fucking irrelevant where web are going right now.

"The past is yours, well the futures mine.... Your all out of time."

One of the interesting things is that rags are saying "How can City be valued at £2bn when we are?"

Using something called the Markham Multivariate Model, which is generally reckoned to be the most accurate method of valuing football clubs, (based on City's last accounts) we should be valued at around £2bn. So that valuation, based on the value of the stake sold, is actually spot on.

Have I got this right (hypothetically), as I'm shit at business related stuff and seem unable to apply common sense to things that confuse me.

Quick google says there's about 100 million football fans in China.

If we signed Messi, and only half that fanbase bought his shirt, at £50 a pop.

That's £2.5bn in shirt sales? Before image rights and how that's divided across relevant parties.

Talking wildly and purely hypothetically here.

Never forget. They rammed their jibes down our throats for years and I think we can all be excused for giving a bit back. A huge part of football fandom is being able to take the piss out of your most hated rivals. As it happens, I don't take the piss out of them anywhere near enough these days as I'm too busy enjoying what's going on at City - I actually gave it out more when we were in the 3rd tier - but every now and then I'll let fly.
