Is it time to sack...................................

Was talking about this with Ducado last weekend. When we lost in the old days, it really didn't seem to matter as all we wanted to do was get to 40 points. So we didn't have the expectation we do now and if we didn't win one week, we'd hope to win the next. Nowadays every game, every point dropped, could be crucial to winning something so it matters more.

What feels like a concern for me is the way we sound so much like Real Madrid supporters in how we handle adversity. I actually laughed when I finally logged into Bluemoon yesterday at the number of people we were sacking because of a defeat. We should let the people who actually do the sacking worry about who needs to be sacked and try and keep a bit of perspective. Things are not going well we should discuss them. We will never be experts but will for the most part have relatively informed opinions. Lets use those to keep some perspective rather than feeling the world is ending because maybe we won't win the title. It was the same last season and the reactions were just as hysterical.

Just done a quick trawl of the forums for the past hour. Sacking the order of the day on Ragcafé (until the dipper result, which made them feel better), on Chelsea Shed forum the noise for Mourinho's sacking is deafening (again, dipper result cheered them up a bit) and last week, after the draw against Norwich and the aggravated injury crisis, lots of calls for sacking of Wenger on Arsenal Mania. No calls for sacking of Klopp on RAWK yet. They're being ultra patient. Above all — no surprise — the invective, the posts, are completely interchangeable between here and everywhere else after a bad day at the office.
Our result made everyone feel good. For an hour or two, a day or so. I think we deserve some sort of prize for community therapy. What goes round comes round.
It's funny. I'm feeling better.
If we beat Borussia on Tuesday, and Seville do the business against Juventus (neither of which is by any means impossible), it will be sweetness and light on here.

Not sure that many people on here really care about finishing top of the group. The general consensus seems to be that we are not good enough to be serious contenders in Europe but that an increasingly lightweight league should be well within our reach. IMO our best chance in Europe is to be in a rich vein of form when the round of 16 comes around rather than hoping for a so called easy draw. I for one am not that optimistic that Pellers won't be hearing howls of derision in his ears over the coming weeks but lets hope I'm wrong.

You can't compare then with now. It's totally different. Back then we could lose most games and still achieve our target - 40 points. The wins were celebrated much more because they were rarer and they meant more. But now, we can't even afford to DROP 40 points, never mind gain them! Dropping 40 puts us on 74 points, which won't win the league. So now it's a complete flip - wins are as trivial as defeats used to be, and its the number of losses that have a bigger say in the outcome of our season. So it's perfectly normal for there to be more of an inquest after a defeat than there used to be.
Fully agree

Don't want to appear hysterical and as such have conciously decided not to post until now on the Stoke game. But no matter how much perspective is maintained a trend does seem to emerging lately which suggests some form of entropy, in a footballing sense at least. I still retain a small amount of belief that Pellers can turn things around but I must admit that on Saturday I was becoming a bit ... well ...HYSTERICAL!!!!

Exactly, our owners expectations have risen as have the fans. We've won the league twice recently with the biggest margin being us turning 2 potential defeats into draws, so every point counts.

For me getting beaten is hard enough to take, but its the manner of the defeats that make it so difficult to swallow. As some have pointed out Stoke didn't kick of off the park to win, they comprehensively outplayed us and the differences in the approach to the match could be more different:

Hughes: We studied and prepared for City for weeks and the players executed the plan to perfection hence the win.

Manuel: It was a bit windy and we were tired.

If some fans are happy to put up with some players who obviously don't give a shit and have no pride or work ethic then that is up to them, but when you see the likes of Bony simply not caring then i for one will voice my disgust at the lazy twat.

Why do people not realise it is the manner of the defeats not the actual losing?

We got away with losing 2-0 on Saturday when in reality it could of been 4 or 5. Up until recently we had lost games by 2 goals absolute maximum and even that was rare. it is shambolic for a team filled with the quality we do to be turned over so easily.

Yes there has been a reaction on here but for me it was the final nail in what has been a terrible run of form and performances.

There are some people who clearly back Pellers to the very end regardless of many daft decisions, probably the same idiots who sang stick your Pellergrini up your arse outside Wembley.

Where was your "perspective" and "hysteria "when you were THE sacking expert when Mancini got us second?Talk about playing level field.
Just curious.

I wasn't hysterical when Mancini got sacked, because I saw his sacking coming six months before 90% of the people on this forum did. If anything it was funny seeing the last 3 months play out and watching hundreds of posters on Bluemoon slowly lose their minds as it became apparent the apple of their eye, the man they felt perfectly represented the club both on and off the field, was being sacked by the owners.

I did have my moments with the legend that is Bobby Manc though, I won't dispute that. However I've learned, mellowed, grown up a little some might say. I'm enjoying supporting City much more these days.

There's moaning about the team and lazyness of players and then there is the hysteria on these forums with people wanting people sacked. The manager, the team, whatever it says in the press some people spout the same bs on here. Jeeez relax guys, yea the team have had a bad last month, we had an excellent 3 months prior to that, get some perspective ffs.

Did you call him a lazy twat after our dismantling of WBA or Seville.no you prob didn,t.
lose at Stoke and the abuse comes straight out.
Give your head a wobble .

Probably because of the millions invested into the squad over the years and the vast amounts the players/coaches get paid, which understandable brings higher expectations from the fans whether you like it or not.

It is not a knee jerk reaction to question the manager after only 4 wins and 4 losses in 10 games and no away league win for 3 months and if we're honest the performances in the 4 wins have been patchy.

I can handle a few defeats, the fact is that we haven't played well at all this season. The trajectory of both performance and results is worrying to say the least and the manager's position is rightly being questioned.

The managers position hasn't been questioned because of 4 defeats this season. His position has been questioned ever since there was a hint Pep might join...over a year ago. I think Manuel has done quite well considering ffp, some fans obsession with Pep & the clamour for his sacking every time we didn't win 5-0...which has now changed to every draw or defeat. He's on a hiding to nothing to be honest...the boo boys numbers will grow & grow till they get their way. There was a character in the Beano years ago called Leather Lungs who would help whip up the crowd and urge the team on to victory. ..I wish City had a few hundred of those instead of a bunch of Victor Meldrew's.

Its been questioned from his first day by some unfortunately.

Can't help thinking that playing a smaller team rather than Barca make it a bit easier to be a serious contender...

How many would have Bobby Manc. back at City?.

I see Inter Milan are top of the league and Jovetic is having a great season.

Our defece would not be the shambles it is ATM...........

Any thoughts.

You've done it now the Mancini police will be here soon. Never any doubt he would be a success elsewhere and incredible what our defence has become since.

Manchester City have confirmed today that they will be knocking down the 'newly expanded' ethiad stadium after sacking everyone of their extremely edgy and emotional supporters. The owners, when questioned about the decision said "We are fucking sick to death of the shit threads on bluemoon and are leaving the club to rot in the the third tier of english football, enjoy your trip to york away and halifax town you bunch of miserable fairys". An empty blue seat signed by nery castilo will be left in place to commemorate the cityzens massive 8 year history.
