Is this the turning point?

Can't help but feeling that tonight was a possible 'turning point'. Although the table situation is hardly a disaster, the last couple of weeks have been tough and we haven't played well. A loss (or even draw) tonight could've been devastating and after that first half, things were not looking good.

However, goals for Sterling and Bony that have struggled a little, top of the 'group of death' and an injury situation that will hopefully get better before the Arsenal and Leicester games make me feel slightly more positive about the future. I've been as negative as almost every City fan the last couple of weeks, especially after the Dippers and Stoke displays, but this could definitely be a new start. If we get this team to play at their best at almost all times, we should be able to walk the league (with all the respect to our opponents).

Onwards and upwards, City!

Not by a long shot! Monchengladbach were poor in the second half and we just capitalised on it.

I think we look better at the back with Mangala and Otamendi than Otamendi and Demi.... We look really bad defending on the wings and our passing is still terrible.

Until we resolve both these problems we will struggle this season to achieve anything.

It could be, especially as it's obvious we have prioritised the CL at the expense of the league. We can put that to bed for a few months now and get on with gaining as many points as possible in the upcoming busy period of league games.

I like to think that they were poor, because we closed them down more. Gave them too much time on the ball 1st half.
As for turning point, i'd like to see 10 consective wins, before i'd call it that ;-)

Hope so mate. I think a lot who were there tonight will be thinking the same

Our luck changed. And we did get some luck, but we deserved it. Confidence goes a long way in football and I am sure Bony and Sterling will be feeling good tonight. I'd just about given up on Bony but had a feeling it might be his night.

Looking forward to the next game now. Win that, and we'll be back

More to the fact they just sat back and invited pressure trying to maintain their 2-1 advantage, the first half they were at our throats and had they carried on that way in the second half we would have struggled to get a win, a draw perhaps but couldn't see us winning.

The passing was superb in the 2nd half.

We were poor on our right flank because we rested Sagna and played Clichy there.

City's performance in the 2nd half was superb. We just capitalised on it. Yes we did, and how. How about some credit for Sterling, or Kolarov. German's might have sat back in the 2nd half, but when a team does that it's still not easy to score 3 against them and keep it tight at the back when they are breaking on you

We've just finished top of a tough group - every opponent was good - whilst Utd are out from the weakest group in the competition. Surely credit is due?

It can be. Why not? Tremendous boost in confidence and there's nothing fundamentally wrong apart from missing players who are getting over injuries.

Borussia beat Bayern 3-1 at the weekend. They weren't mugs

I respect what you're saying but I can't give credit when the cracks are still appearing. Some are happy because we won I can understand that but we shouldn't let a win gloss over what is still the problem, we won today yes but play like this against Swansea on Saturday and we'll have a harder time.
Our passing may have been better in the second half but overall it's been terrible for awhile, only a hand full of games we've managed over an 85% success rate, and that should be our average.
Sterling had a great game, not sure what Kolarov did that merits credit? But we should be great as a team not relying on individuals.

We've become like Arsenal as well when in the final 3rd, the amount of times we need to pass it around the box we either end up going back or giving the ball away, it's becoming increasingly frustrating that we play like this at 2-1 down.

no way you watched that game

Last season we were on a bad run, beat Swansea 2-1 then recovered to beat Bayern 3-2, we then went on some ridiculous unbeaten run all the way to the new year. Even if BMG helped us, never underestimate the lift it can give the players mentally when you recover like this.

It's often not about quality, it's about confidence. You can have an average side and be on an amazing run, not because the manager is getting it right or the players have become good players, but just because confidence is high.

This could turn our confidence around and, despite having many flaws as a squad and tactically from week-to-week, we could now go on a decent run of wins. The good thing about this time of year is that there are loads of games and to go on a run on this period can make you unstoppable as you just build and build.

Exactly, very good point. At the professional level confidence, and having the confidence to play quickly is the key. Fingers crossed tonight helps.

This will be categorically false. They weren't trying to maintain their lead. They played the same way both halfs. We were just more intense in the 2ns half. I mean, look how open they were for our 3 goals. That's not a team sitting back. They played straight up. And I thank them for that :)

No, we played well in that second half but tbh they were visibly very very tired. I wouldn't read too much in to that performance but we did what was needed. We need to get a good run under our belt and win a few, then we can say we've turned a corner.
