Is this the turning point?

This is exactly what we have to do. We must use this as the shot in the arm that it is. Now is the time to get behind the team and really generate some momentum. I've been one of the most vocal on here calling for Manuel, and whilst I believe he still has to go, he's saved his season and we now use this to push on together and go again. Come on lads.

This will be categorically false. They weren't trying to maintain their lead. They played the same way both halfs. We were just more intense in the 2ns half. I mean, look how open they were for our 3 goals. That's not a team sitting back. They played straight up. And I thank them for that :)

They needed a win, so by the time we equalised they then in turn needed to press us but by then the damage was already done, they looked tired and dejected and started making stray passes from about 5 yards away from eachother.

I'm not complaining I'm just being a realist that this result won't kick start us because our problems are still there.

They absolutely did not

When they were breaking in the 2nd half, only 1 or 2 players were running up in support of the man on the ball. They changed tactics in the 2nd half and tried to defend their lead and it totally back-fired. Of course it's not easy to break a team down who are intent on defence so City should still get credit for scoring the goals. In fact we could have had several more in that 2nd half.

We had a turning point v NUFC and another against Bournemouth. Too many turning points has us wondering which bloody way we're playing!
That's not as significant as coming from 2-1 down in the Champions League and topping the group. Maybe for some fans, they are not bothered, but for the players the Champions League is very important.

You look at the impact on teams who go out. for some it kills their season and is a huge blow to the club

We need to string a run of wins together like we did in both our championship wins and last season without the blips from now on.

We have dropped 16 points already in 15 games so we cannot afford to drop too many more.

Lets just see how we go on Saturday first.

each to their own, his support play and attacking play in the 2nd half was for me what made the difference

I'll agree he did well but not a performance to go down as excellent. On that basis of today though I still don't think he is a LB that should be in our starting line up, but given we have nothing to chose from other than himself or Clichy, Kolarov gets the nod because he enjoys pressing more than Clichy.

It was the intensity of pressure. They were equally as open both halves. I don't remember any portion of play where we were passing around trying to unlock 2 banks of 4s like teams used to do in the prem.

Our intensity forced them into more mistakes and they tired.

that's close enough for :)

That just begs the question - why did defending their lead totally backfire?

Why did we take them apart?

I disagree. 1st half they were flooding forward as a team. Sometimes they passed it slowly from the back, but at other times they broke and had loads of players running up in support of the man on the ball

2nd half they broke rarely, and when they did only 1 or 2 broke to support the man on the ball. That maybe because they were tired, but I'd be surprised if that was the case. I suspect it was tactical because it was so soon after the 1st half

Not by a long shot! Monchengladbach were poor in the second half and we just capitalised on it.

I think we look better at the back with Mangala and Otamendi than Otamendi and Demi.... We look really bad defending on the wings and our passing is still terrible.

Until we resolve both these problems we will struggle this season to achieve anything.
Always look on the bright side of life.

We played very well, but I do think their coach made a mistake. We got the initiative and you got the feeling if we could get one, even at the late stage we'd go on and get another. They gave us hope

This win tonight could be a springboard to kick on in the league. We can forget about the Champions league until the new year and concentrate on the league and with players coming back, this can only be a good thing.

The one thing we can take about tonight is that a team assembled through injuries to others can play like that.
