Chelsea Thread (2015-16)

I thought the only reason he hadn't already pulled the trigger was because he couldn't afford it under ffp. I know it won't matter next season, but the monitoring period is over 3 years, so you could be stuck with Mourinho until he himself decides enough is enough.

It could well be that but i'm not sure it is, time will tell because if we carry on as we are he'll have no choice but to get rid & not worry about ffp.

It's going to be interesting to see how he handles this. Is it his first managerial crisis? It will be interesting to hear what Chelsea fans on here think about the players and their motivation/effort. Let's face it, there's fuck all wrong with the squad, it just appears that either Mourinho has got it all wrong in his selection/tactics, or the players can't be arsed. He's always been lauded as a tactical genius, and can motivate players to perform, so I just can't figure out what is wrong.

Maybe, and I think someone on here has mentioned it, other manager's have figured him out?

I think its a bit of both mate, ive been saying it for ages we're too predictable, got no plan B & the players just dont seem to be trying(apart from Willian) look at Costa he's turning in to a Torres, every attack he goes out wide, the Bmouth game when we were chasing the game & desperate for a goal to get a point, we had one player in the middle out of six who wernt busting a gut to get there, saying that last night once we changed formation in the last 20mins we could have maybe got an equaliser, question is though why does it take the team so long to actually attack & why does it take so long for Jose to actually bring on Remy & go two up top.

The problems are plain to see its just a shame Jose or the team cant or dont want to.

Will FFP come into the equation if Chelsea aren't in Europe!
If a settlement is negotiated whereby they pay Moanhino off over three years, that will also soften the financial blow

With our turn over of over £300m i'm not sure how much an impact on ffp would be if we pay Jose off, never know he might actually quit.

Was going to say it could be worse but we're only a point off where we were in 86 haha at least we finished 14th.

Surely you will have budgeted for Maureen's salary for the next years already whether he is there or not

The additional cost will be the next manager's salary

Chelsea got rid of Maureen first time round because Abramovic (sp) thought their football was turgid and he wanted o win the CL n style.

TBH their football is no better now and far less productive. I would love to know what is going on behind the scenes right now. Are the players staging a mutiny? are they all involved? It is obvious that Hazard wants away.

I could not beLive what he said yesterday, when he claimed the HE was responsible for the players being better than they really were and that some weren't really that good, he had made them look good, all down to him. So, so so conceited.... I can see why they might be a bit pissed off with him.

I think our American friends have a saying for that "turnover for show, profit for dough" Our turnover has exceeded yours for a couple of years now, but we only recently showed a small profit. I seem to recall a few on here who know about finances(@prestwichblue perhaps?) saying Chelsea were sailing close to the wind with regards to FFP.
As for Jose quitting, I just can't see it. Financially it makes no sense for him to just up and quit. If someone comes in for him that might change.

Big crowd there for your London Derby, mate ;-)

It's an incredible situation, really; unprecedented in the modern era. It's not necessarily easily resolvable either imo.

Unlike most, I'm ambivalent about Mourinho. On occasions I've seen him interviewed away from the cauldron of the stadium and he's struck me as quite an engaging, funny man. I know many who interact with him away from the cameras speak highly of him. It's also right to say that at times he's inspired a huge amount of loyalty from those who've played under him. I also think he's proved to be a tactical genius in many one-off games, Liverpool in 2014 being one such example.

On the other hand he can be an utterly graceless, petty and vindictive man. Some of his paranoid ramblings border on the absurd. The disrespectful way he talks of others, often without any provocation, is deeply unattractive and is possibly now proving to be counter productive; a siege mentality can only have a limited shelf-life in terms of its effectiveness, surely.

Given his exalted status within the game over the last decade it's easy to forget where he came from to arrive at that destination. He was a mediocre player who became a translator for Bobby Robson, before embarking on what has to be viewed as a remarkable footballing journey. One has to wonder after all those years of climbing that ladder so quickly and being hailed in certain quarters as one of the greatest managers of all time, whether he has the mental fortitude to cope with a significant diminution in his standing, especially if that is for a prolonged period.

Beneath that sneering, self-assured veneer lies, I suspect, a man with deep insecurities about where he came from and how he is viewed by others. I think he's got a taste for life at the very top which he'll struggle to cope without.

I expect he'll get the united job sooner or later, but the same air of invincibility that surrounded both him and them half a decade or so ago is no longer there. There's a little part of me that wants him to go there, because if it doesn't go to plan, and there's every chance it won't, it will make utterly compelling and entertaining viewing that makes the present sideshow at united seem as boring as the football currently on offer.

Glad he never came to mange us.

Quitting would mean admitting he was in some way responsible for the bad results and that he is not capable of fixing it. Not a chance

Those attendances (or lack of) are incredible. Perhaps depressed because many of the teams with the most support were playing away, but well below what we would expect today.

And yet some look back at that as a halcyon period for football. It was pretty depressing in the main; the game seemed to be in a downward spiral.

Here i am again, i only seem to post on here after a defeat, you'll notice i've been posting a lot lately haha

What can i say? we'll i can so i told you so, so far i said we wont win the league, we wont, i said wont make top 4, we wont & i also said we're in a relegation battle, we are!!

The only time i'm right & i wish i was bloody wrong haha

Two things, 1, it looks like Jose has lost the players, think i posted that a while back as i have heard that from someone, after last night i'm even more convinced he has.

2, what does Roman do, keep Jose & get rid of the players who should be getting on with their job, the job they are paid millions to do, or get rid of Jose?

I really dont know, this season is so unique in our performances & the way Roman is acting, doing nothing compared to previous season's & sacking managers.

Jose goes who comes in?

I think both parties are to blame, the players for not giving 100% & Jose for consistently sticking to the same team & formation, last night was a disgrace & as for Hazard if he feigned an injury then he can piss off to Spain where he wants to go.

What odds Chelsea get relegated & go on to win the CL, we've no chance of the latter but thats the sort of f@cked up thing my club would do!!

Onwards & upwards..(hopefully)
You're brave for showing up at this moment, I wouldn't haha

Anyway your fans developed too emotional an attachment to Mou. Employees come and go. The good for the club has to come first. We learned that with Mancini.

There's gotta be something wrong in the dressing room. It can't be tactical, because they're basically playing the same tactics as always. Teams might have figured out how to beat them a bit better, but it's still easier said than done against a top team. Their fitness suffered in the second half of last season with Mourinho using a core of players all the time, but they had a full preseason, with no internationals, so that shouldn't be an issue. The only possibility is that he's lost the dressing room, and let's face it, that would be consistent with his previous record. Even teams that lose all of their best players don't drop this far in a season. He's in a relegation battle with the champions ffs.

What would you say % wise on the number of Chelsea fans that want jose to go ?

I think you'll find preseason was a real issue for them. They started late and it is the view of many observers that that is the cause of their poor season, they were unfit and not match ready from day one and since then they have been in terminal decline.
