Chelsea Thread (2015-16)

Yep, however, give him the money, which they will desperately do, and he'll lay the foundations.... I hate the thought of them bouncing back for any length of time, however, being a realist, he may do it with all the fanfare and swag of a Luke Chadwick/Helen Keller hybrid baby, but he'll win them the title within those 3 years...
Not if we have Pep he won't.

This whole season so far is turning out a strange one to say the least, why Chelsea have struggled to the extent they have is clearly the biggest suprise so far. I think now the nature of the Premier League and competing in the CL requires such an effort and takes its toll over a season, to win it leaves teams still mentally and physically fatigued come the start of the next. Take City both seasons following Championships, never really looked like winning the title for a second consecutive year. In Chelseas case it would seem that as well as this there is a fair bit of unrest in the team, the manager has never really had to face being down with the also rans and worse. I cannot believe they will continue to struggle to any great extent and would expect them to put some run together that will see them finish well clear of the drop.

As for Mourinho,s future there, if his relationship with the squad has broken down then its likely he will have to go sooner rather than later, if there is the kind of togetherness and determination that seems to be present in for example Newcastle or Bournemouths squads who both face a real battle to stay in the division but despite some dismal results and performances seem up for the fight, then it would be foolish to sack him. At the end of the day they have had a very poor 4 months, they could still go deep in the Champions League, and have a good tradition in the FA Cup and finish in the top 8.

I would still bet that one way or another they will qualify for Europe next season and whilst they would be advised to take the current league position seriously there is not even the remotest chance of them going down.

This season should be turned in to a Hollywood film if we go down, its so unheard of for a team to win their league & then to be as bad as us this season, one thing is for sure, there's never a dull moment being a Chelsea fan!
It's not unheard of actually. In 1937 a team won the First Division and were relegated the following season, despite being the top scorers in the division and having a positive goal difference (although it was goal average in those days). You'll never guess which team that was...

If Chelsea lose to Sunderland this weekend, Jose Mourinho will be sacked. (Source - ESPN)

so he would be gone by Saturday then

If that's true and he really has lost the dressing room, I might put a fiver on Sunderland to win.

I'm surprised Chelsea haven't sacked Jose now .
Why wait till Sunderland at home .
Sunderland should beat Chelsea on Saturday .
They've done it before ,when Chelsea have been good .

Mail online suggesting that Brendan should replace Jose until the end of season if he's given the sack. Could be quite funny at the end of a nil nil bore draw between Liverpool and Chelsea, Klopp at one end doing the Okey Cokey and Brendan at the other shimmying with the lads to a bit of Achey Breaky Heart.

I think today's decision has finished their chance of becoming one of Europe's top clubs.

No decent manager will ever go there, the players hold all the power. Why would you go to a club where you have absolutely no chance of building anything? Chelsea were successful with that formula when they had players like Cech, Terry, Cole, Lampard and Drogba in their prime. That formula with their current squad? Disaster.

Chelsea could be out of the top four for years IMO.

which lets the rags in with a chance :(

I hate how we always get tarred with the same brush as Chelsea.

Your always hear "Managers at clubs like City and Chelsea sack managers every year."

Even though our last 2 managers will have been here for 3 seasons.
