That is very true.

And your despicable bunch have also managed get out of the Champions' League group stages, though not in the way you all envisaged, considering you had possibly the easiest group.

Fucking losers!

Its all about cycles.
Its not as if City have covered themselves in glory in either the league or the CL.
Arguably the main discussion at the end of the seasons of both your title wins was more about the dramatic loss of form of the league leaders rather than City being consistently better.

It's a bit rich for a rag to come on Bluemoon and lecture City supporters about consistency. Our record in the Premier League is better than any other team over the last five years: 3rd, 1st, 2nd, 1st and 2nd. And the title is won over 38 games, not the last five or six.

And while I agree that we haven't exactly covered ourselves in glory in the CL, you conveniently fail to mention the strength of the opposition we have had to face compared to your shower of shite. You couldn't even qualify from a group containing Wolfsburg, PSV and CSKA Moscow, whereas we topped a group that also had last season's runners-up in it.

Every title win consists of drop in form from the challengers(more so now than your paid for titles). How else do you win it? If we were shite etc...

Its not as if City built a winning team based on its youth system and I doubt the pressure of modern management will allow City to have more than 1-2 youth players who will be regular first team players.
Also my point was "Fucking Losers!" is the wrong way to see it. Its about cycles.

My point was related to consistency within a season. City have not (yet) given the impression that they can become runaway league leaders.
I don't think they ever will considering the competitive level of the league today.

With regards to the CL, its only been 2 mediocre seasons for us. We need to stop the rot ASAP.
City may have faced better teams but even in those games, the team did not show enough quality to at least challenge the better team.
You may read through this forums post-match threads to verify.

you weren't even in it last season!

If you're talking about 2012, I assume you actually mean 'pitiful capitulation', which is strange, because in the run in, all we heard from the lickspittle press was how it was City who would 'choke'.

The problem seems to on both occasions the league leaders have seen us coming up the rails and bottled it, shame really :-)

I don't need to read through the forums to know what happens in our matches.

I actually go to games!

Being a hypocrite as at the very core of being a football fan, to some extent or another. Loyalty can play havoc with people's sense of fairness.

I don't seek to speak for all City fans when I say this, but for me at least, the main driver of the mocking that has gone on in relation to united in recent years has little to do with each club's respective points total at any given point in time, but rather the exposure of the self righteous pontificating that we had to endure for years from supporters and officials alike about their club's 'way' of doing things for what it really was; a lie. The obscenely and comically named 'united way'

For as long as I've cared to remember I've had to endure united fans (including from within my own family) tiresomely drone on about united never having had a sugar daddy (a lie), have always spent money they've 'earned' (wholly wrong, even in the last 25 years) produce the best young talent (not been true for 25 years), having always been the biggest club in Manchester (another lie), that they don't pay the biggest wages (pretty much always have in the Premier League era) whilst playing the game with swashbuckling élan (certainly no longer the case) that they aren't a sacking club (unless Ferguson isn't the manager) and going about their business in a way that excludes class (dodgy meat, toilet cubicles, evicting Munich survivors, sister-in-law/granny shagging etc etc....notwithstanding).

All these myths have been exposed, one by one, as a complete facade maintained by a compliant media.

This is all against the backdrop of a club that when its closest neighbours, who had previously helped it out at various times, fell upon a period of chronic underachievement chose to mark that with a banner openly mocking them. A banner wholeheartedly embraced by united as a club, it should be said.

So you see, the points difference doesn't really enter into it. For years people associated with united have been boring (and lying to) the rest of us about how different and special their club was and now that has been shown up to be the smoke and mirrors that many of us believed it always was, we've got every right to continue to take the piss, whether we win, lose or draw at Arsenal.

Which we will, I promise.
Just read this, and congrats Gord, a better synopsis of the state of affairs between the rags and other clubs, particularly ours,
I've yet to read.

CL? You do realise that in City's 5 seasons in the CL they've done better than United 3 times? The other twice United progressed further on the back of soft draws before being dumped out by a team from City's group. While City have routinely been drawn in groups of death United regularly get drawn against the worst team(s) possible. Even this season Brugge were by far the weakest team they could have got in the play off round, PSV (thanks to the new seeding system) were the worst pot 1 team ever in the CL and even in the (*smirks*) Europa League, out of the 29 teams United could have been drawn against they pull out the weakest of them all in Midtjylland. Try ditching myths for facts.
