Is it true that Jaun Mata has now gone 965 Minutes of Premier league action without scoring or Assisting from open play, now that's title winning form:)

Terrible purchase from Chelsea.
In football today there are no pure-attackers and no pure-defenders.
The entire team attacks and defends as a unit.
Juan Mata can only play one position and his contribution to defending is non-existant. He would have been fantastic in the previous era but now he is a luxury player.
Ironically one a team like City can afford.

clueless

Baby steps? ffs
Babies take...err...baby steps because they are surrounded by people wanting to nurture them, let them grow into the future, and have some instincts of what to do and how to go about it.

United are surrounded by people wanting to leech from them, hanging onto their coat tails as the past recedes from view. They have no clue or planning about how to go about it, now that plan Moyes went up the swampy.

Thought you were the richest club in the world? Spouted by most rags..

He didn't do too bad along side DS in his day, it's just like any other good player once they have a stint at your club they look and turn shit..Di Maria springs to mind..

You have ruined him, wish we had got him instead

I would rather have a long term plan in place rather than a short term knee jerk reaction.

That's the problem you have. There is no long term plan, just a series of spasmodic knee jerk reactions. The commercial side of your club is like your PR team, a well oiled machine. The football side is run by idiots and long may it continue.

United had a longterm plan - Moyes.
Since then it's been firefighting.
There is no longterm plan, since March 2014, unless it's family man :-O. And that's it... Zilch, nada, nothing else.

An abundance of hope, but still no concrete longterm plan.

There were a few in work today saying they don't mind so much, as long as we lose! Fuck me, how quickly have they gone from 'ickle city, we don't give a shit about your results, you don't matter you bunch of bitters'.....

When I said afford, I did not mean it in terms of money.
I meant that City has a fantastic starting 5 in their attack. Juan Mata would be an able substitute.
At MU he is a starter through a combination of injuries to other players and a loss of form of key players.

He was voted fans player of the year twice at Chelsea but honestly he only had 6 months of outstanding form in each of those seasons.
Again, its more a case of great form, favored position, favored playing style all coming together for him. Would be delighted if he left at the end of the season.

Di Maria never wanted to come to us in the first place.
He was forced out of RM (no idea why) and through a combination of his persuasive agent and improper diligence on the player from LVG's side, we ended up with an unhappy player.

myth

(see obsessed with City poster above for a poor example)

Why would we ruin a player for whom we payed $40-50 million?
His skill sets don't match what is required in modern day attackers.
Those days of being a great assister and nothing else are over.

Yeah, Mata is a strange one. He is like a stocking filler with a bit of sparkle in your current setup.
That said Mourinho is no mug so maybe saw him as never changing from someone who is generally neither here nor there.
I am sure there are setups where he would look like the dogs and he may fit a Nasri role here but i think Nasri is better tbh.

Now we are always in the cl and other comps for a long while i find the idea of a true luxury player something no top team can afford really.
Nasri is comfortable being harassed and keeping the ball at feet which helps us a lot against pressing teams for example, i think Mata would lose the ball in such situations more often than not.

I disagree about the pure defenders and attackers bit, clubs just use the tactics to give that impression sometimes, to give a very short answer.

Agreed. Which is why a thorough due diligence must be done on the next appointment.
The next appointment will be the tipping point where we will either become title challengers or fighting alongside Pool, Tottenham for 4th palce.
We need a proper DOF to maintain continuity and an innovative coach to implement ideas consistent with the long term strategy.
