Howard Webb

Pawson is clearly out of his depth at this level, as so many of them are.

Best thing Scudamore could do with the money in our league is invest in a pool of the worlds most talented refs and have the very best officiating our games rather than the clueless buffoons we are having to endure every week.

They should also have to attend a post match press conference like under pressure managers have too, some about to lose their jobs because of ridiculously shit decisions they make every week and explain how they can get it so wrong!

And show them a replay of the incident and ask them to explain it.

It looked totally clear cut from behind the goal, the deliberate movement of the defender's leg into Aguero was very obvious. I was surprised when I saw the telly pics that it didn't look quite as certain, but this was one of those occasions when I know I had a better view than the cameras.

The ref was a long way behind so I can understand him not giving it, it was down to the lino. Not sure what sort of view he had.
I was right in line with the linesman, it was a clear view from side-on but tbf looking from that angle live I couldn't be 100% certain that the defender hadn't got a slight touch on the ball. I thought the ref was poorly positioned, too far behind the play. By contrast the handball in the area that the same lino didn't give looked obvious from much the same angle.

I've no idea what Webb was banging on about, it's a stonewaller from the TV replays.

They live in a bubble right now, safe in the knowledge that poor performance will not do for their careers, no matter what the assessors at games or the PGMOL would like you to think.

that would require a level of honesty not found in those circles.

And from that same article:
With Manchester United again looking formidable favourites for the Premier League title, the injustice of the penalty awarded against Spurs goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes may soon be forgotten at Old Trafford. But Howard Webb’s bizarre decision to point to the spot, when Gomes had clearly managed to palm the ball away from Michael Carrick, is just the latest infamous decision to go the Reds’ way on their home turf.

Manchester United 2 Blackburn Rovers 1
Premier League, February 2009
It turns out Howard Webb has form. Just two months ago, Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce left Old Trafford furious at how he believed the referee had been intimidated by Manchester United.

I am of the opinion that when the US authorities rid FIFA of its greedy dinosaurs, and probably take control of FIFA, then the use of available technology to assist referee decision making will be introduced. It's all about the money and footie is the only sport refusing technology under the current regime.

There were two clearcut offsides in the first half, last night, that led to scoring chances for Leicester.
On each occasion the BT branch of the Leicester City Fan Club suggested that the player "might've been a little bit offside, there".
A little bit offside?
Is that like being a little bit pregnant?

Problem is if you get a twunt like Webb as the replay ref it won't change anything. Arrogant twunt knew he was wrong last night with pundits disagreeing with him but did he admit it?

Its another example of the cliché's trotted out to somehow change the laws of the game to suit as and when.

As a fan and as a player, all you want is consistency. A free kick offence outside the box, as the challenge on Kun last night would have been is a penalty inside the box and we dont want stupid fucking cliché's thrown around like confetti to excuse the correct decision not being given.

And from that same article:

That's what i was getting at PB, cheers for putting it better..

Still can't get over this, bent bastards..

Most notably there was an incredible 10 year run – from December 1993 to April 2004 – when not a single penalty was scored against United in a Premier League match at Old Trafford.

Poll is on record as saying if you wanted the big games which normally included the rags, you had to tow the line.

Straight form the horses mouth.

He knows he's talking bullshit too, you can tell. Just shown himself up on live TV for a good 5 minutes.

His logic being if someone throws their arms up in the air theatrically it negates the fact that it was a stonewall penalty? Come off it.
Collymore said the same thing about Agueros arms when he got brought down last season at Southampton
After stonewall not given

I couldn't agree more.
My other bugbear is "there was definite contact, there".
I should hope so. It's a contact sport!

In last night's instance, it was penalty; not because there was contact but because he actually denied Aguero a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
However, they've also invented this imaginary 'last man back' rule that apparently must be a factor, too.

(Incidentally, I don't agree with a straight red for the denial of a clear goal scoring opportunity. Three punishments for one offence is silly. A yellow card and allow a penalty goal (like a penalty try on rugby) is plenty of retribution).
