Sky TV is going....

Basically Phil you buy each user an android box, many choices around i should add and just connect to your wifi.

To be honest though i would only trust Virgin and a couple of smaller companies to handle the wifi demands you may carry.
All of you could stream at full 1080p with dts audio (posh audio) with no hassle. I have had 4 devices streaming 1080p myself and 1 streaming 2160p (4k) on the 152MB/s line they offer with no buffering.
I've been getting under 10meg at peak times with VM even though I pay for 50. The advice from Bangalore was to wait till later to use the Internet!!

It sounds like they have oversold in the area and need to upgrade the cabling which won't happen until Feb, meanwhile my prices go up 10% soon.

VM can be shit too.

Evening all. Sky is just getting too expensive so been following the chat on here and have done some digging around. Would any of the the really tech savvy guys have a butchers at this link for me please and let me know what the downsides are to what they offer?

Many thanks.

Just a thought, mods if I'm infringing any of the guidelines, it's completely unintentional, so please feel free to delete my post if necessary.

A couple of lads at work are singing the praises of the Amazon TV fire stick £35 one off payment and all the sports and films you can watch, was thinking about one and feck Sky off, anyone got one ?

I wouldn't do this, a FireStick needs a fast internet and is basically just SmartTV which is NetFlix, Youtube, Sky News, it does not include any channels and you still have to pay for Netflix too. Everything on it you either have to pay for or you can get it free elsewhere anyway.

The stupidest thing about it is they advertise it as though Clarkson's new program will come with it, it won't, you still need to pay for Amazon Prime. Total waste of money if you ask me.

The Zgemma box is excellent, the only downside is no HD, but for 150 for 12 months all in including box office = £12.50 PM first year, £5 PM 2nd year.
Just be careful who you buy off if you need to contact them for any reason.

The standard FireStick doesn't give you free sports streams and other good stuff. However, load it up with Kodi and TheBlackBox (or similar) then you're laughing.

After gaining a bit of confidence in the technology (mostly from guys on here who have used non-sky boxes for a while it seems), I've ordered a zgemma twin tuner with 500gb hard drive which should arrive on Weds. £180 with the 12 month gift. I'll let people know how I get on with it.

Update....

Well had my first letter through the post, It basically says We're going to miss you here at Sky, and whats more, we don't want you to miss out. Thats why we are offering you 50% off your current Sky Bundle.

Shall I stick it out further?
Take it,i might try that as well

OK, so I said I'd update on my purchase of a zgemma twin tuner with 500gb hard drive. Arrived Weds, took about 15 mins to get it going but Sky box has been off since then! Every channel Sky do (apart from HD) is available and all the premium channels e.g. Racing UK, Scum TV, Box Office events are on there free. Wished I'd have done this ages ago. Having given it a few days to be sure that there was no freezing etc. I'm now going to cancel Sky this weekend and save myself about £90 per month.

Remember tell them you've been kicked out as your wife found you in bed with her brother.... Stops them passing your call around for a hour speaking to staff offering you deals to stay.
