Jihadi John Song

I know the people who created the song and the people singing the song. They're all decent lads. They're not the type of people some on here are claiming them to be purely based on them singing one song. They don't go out looking for trouble or anything like that, they go home and away every game and simply enjoy a good piss up and like to sing songs. When you're sat on a coach pissed up for 6 hours, some ill-advised songs are often created. Usually they stay on the coach but on occasions they'll get an outing at the match and then generally tail off when they sober up and realise it's not that great. This is nothing new and there's certainly been a lot worse songs in the past. The outrage on here is way over the top, labelling blues as brain dead, pond life and scum amongst other things is more offensive than the actual song imo. Are some people really calling for banning orders because of what is basically just an insensitive song that mocks a dead ISIS member?

If people don't like it, don't sing it and it will die out, Or better still, if you really feel that strongly about it, sing over them and drown it out.

I suppose we have to have something to moan about, seeing as for the first time this season we can have no complaints on the pitch.
Please ask them to stop because they're upsetting the sensitive souls on Bluemoon.

Needs stopping.

1) People are misguidedly thinking it's mocking the Paris attacks (it's not)
2) It's not a particularly supportive chant either
3) It's hardly a solemnly felt chant when it's sang by pissed up morons. And if they need to be tanked up because they are on a long away trip, they should go down their local and not bother turning up to support us. We don't need pissed up supporters.
4) It's classless, tasteless, and embarrassing.

Well if they go home and away on the piss for 6 hours that explains it, carry on

Surely no-one thinks it's mocking the Paris attacks?

It was mentioned on the radio that City fans were chanting about the attacks. That leaves the general public assuming the worst. And if anybody tries to clarify it, it doesn't really read much better! That's the trouble with the way things get reported. 'Paris Attacks' 'Jihadi John' and football supporters - put those three phrases in the same sentence and the general public will do the rest.

My main issue with it is that it's a West Ham song with right-wing associations, and fuck all to do with Manchester City.

We are in the main a working class fan base and by that I mean we have large sections of dead heads, just because the guy next to you is a blue doesn't mean they aren't pond Life, if you want to see the best and worst of humanity go to a football match

what a load of shit. how do you even know what back ground these people who were singing it came from ? I'm working class does that make me and most other city fans dead heads. i think the chants shit btw.

i wasn't around but going off stories on here and such seems like there were may more knob heads in the 70s and 80s

I started in the 70's and 80's and can confirm this wasn't the case we never discussed politics, race or the Middle East, we just punched each other til our fila trackies were blood red

They'll be delighted they now have your blessing.

I thought someone said earlier in the thread that the West Ham supporters started it?

The last line "jihadi John is fucking dead, he had a bomb dropped on his head" was made up by West ham fans, the rest of it was made up by City fans at Arsenal, the West Ham bit was added to the end of the song later on.

My above response probably covers that for you. The song originated separately from the west Ham song,

Not as bad as the Munich chants in the Upper Bullens concourse on Wednesday. I thought no-one did that any more.

Oh no! Not the general public!

I won't be singing it because it's a bit of a shit song isn't it - I won't be getting offended by it either. Football fans aren't the greatest lyricists in the main tbf.

Your mates will have to give the West Ham supporters a songwriting credit when their album comes out.

Oh no! Not the general public!

It reflects on our club, and our supporters. Even if it's misrepresented, the damage is done.
The general public are precisely the people our sponsors want to impress, and for that matter most City fans would probably like to be thought of in a good light too.

I don't think believe for a moment that the intentions were bad, but I do think it's ill-advised and not particularly flattering to the club or our fans (as a whole). It is what it is - the product of pissed up youths and probably needs flushing away as quickly as possible.
