Really love nostalgic threads....as a kid I always had an impression of players that was probably based on daft stuff, if they had a cool name they were great, if they had a ridiculous beard (Tony Grealish) they were shit! Be it knowledge and appreciation of the game or whatever I think my thoughts on todays players are more or less in line with the norm. Id love to know what fellow blues thought of players I used to watch when I was lickle. I realise some of my "heroes" of yesteryear may be taken apart on here now.

Although I watched a few games in 1976-77 season, I really started going in the 1980-81 season, so starting off Id love to know what everyone used to think of.....Kevin Reeves

Not very quick, not bad in the air, not very strong, knew where the goals were, just not very often when he played for us

We paid a huge fee for him, and as a result some fans probably expected a little bit more from him than we got. However, I liked him as well (at least until his third full season, when the goals dried up for him somewhat). He was a talented player, though, and combined well with Trevor Francis in the relatively few games they played together.

Scored a cracking dipping volley I think against Norwich in the cup under Bond in a 6 -o win, just after the 4 -0 win at home against Palace under Allison.1981?
Also "scored" the outlawed headed goal against Liverpool-alf grey had other ideas...

As I recall after he had gone it was said he had been carrying a long term injury . He was ok though and I might be wrong but it think he scored a last minute winner against Dirty Leeds was never a bad thing !!!

I remebered him as quite quick but then again I thought he'd scored a lot more goals than his stats indicate (P 158, G 39 all comps for us) so perhaps it's my age...

Didn't know he retired at just 26 due to a hip injury so perhaps the long term injury problem someone else mentioned was right.

In 1981 or thereabouts I swapped his sticker for a Birmingham City badge. Still didn't manage to complete my album. Anyone else waste endless money on panini stickers?

Had many panini albums. The foil badges were best bit. Never got the city badge, always needed to send off for it ! I think we always sold a player before I had even got anywhere near finishing the page lol.

my first derby at the swamp,
he scored a cracking header in a cracking game.
how could we not love him to bits after that.
