And this is what Mourinho did to Chelsea last season and this. He has drained all the flair and attack out of the Chelsea team and tried to make Hazard, Oscar and Fabregas into defenders. Only Willian had the energy to get up and down the pitch and support the loan striker. He did win the title last season and made Terry look like a top defender again, but if he only has to defend the 5 yards around him then he has the legs to do it.

On the flip side our managers tactics are the opposite of this and he leaves both centre backs totally exposed so we concede a goal a game. If ours had the same protection and Hart behind them then we wouldn't be conceding goals like we are. There is a balance we have to find and it's someway between a Van Gaal/Mourinho setup and Pellegrinis all out attack. One setup appears to have 10 defenders and ours has 2 defenders and then our centre backs get slated if they concede a goal !
 
Tottenham and Liverpool will finish above this wank.

Van Gaal is turning them shit. What has he done in 2 years what is his legacy after spending a quarter of a billion pounds? feck all.

If Aguero misses 3 tap ins in front of an open goal, I would still say we could have scored 3 goals and we'd have 0 shots on target. The two are not connected.

If you watched the game, the rags created quite a few more golden opportunities to score which they promptly fucked up. turtle is right in saying they could have had plenty more with competent finishing.

Btw loved how Sky made out that United were playing well just because they were 3-2 up. When really they were second best for almost all of the 2nd half.

All European pitches are the same size, unless like Stoke, they can't actually make it regulation size.

To be fair the refs are trying their best to help them but there is only so much they can do, I'm surprised that they didnt call a penalty for Newcastle for Smalling deflecting the ball in with his arm in the last minute, just in case they missed it :)

No they didn't
Four efforts on target
Three went in and Fellani should have buried the header, but put it right at the goalie
Lindgard missed an absolute sitter and that really was it for utd chances

At the other end, Newcastle had a very good chance that was sidefooted at DeGea and then he made a very good one on one save
After that Newcastle had two very strong penalty shouts turned down and overall Newcastle were the better team

They could of but they could have easily conceded 6, not been given a helping hand again with a penalty, had Smalling and Fellani sent off and conceded more penalties. Seems refs are already under instructions to give them a hand

Again, I'm not sure if you're a special brand of dense, but a good chance doesn't have to end with a shot on target, I don't know why you keep parroting that stat. They fucked up at least another couple of golden opportunities and could have had 5 or 6 goals if they were half competent in the box.
 
The telegraph are doing a hilarious job of bigging up last nights result as if it were a 3-3 draw away at Camp Nou.

Still, I guess it's good news for us since they're just inadvertently papering over the cracks.

3 goals scored, two sitters missed, which would have been five

Perhaps you've been to the LVG school of spin or listened too much to wee Davy's after rag comments about number of crosses or number of times got to the by line

The rags, other than the goals only had two other clear cut chances, the same number as Newcastle missed

Missed my point. You cannot score six goals if you only have four shots on target. If we have 20 shots tonight could we have scored 20? No. Shots have to be at the very least on target for a goal to be scored.

No. He made a good point. You didn't.

You can miss three penalties can't you. Say we draw nil nil but Bony skies two pens. Afterwards Pellegrini says 'we could have scored two'. You'd be on arguing that we couldn't have as we didn't have any shots on target?
