Head of recruitment

Here is the full article, without paywall - http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/public/football/article4666014.ece

Langley is understood to have decided to retire because of disenchantment at the academy’s decline and limitations imposed on him regarding player recruitment. It is believed that he has become increasingly frustrated at working under John Alexander, the club secretary, and John Murtagh, Everton’s former head of performance, who was brought to Old Trafford by David Moyes, the pair who have taken charge of the academy since Brian McClair left his role as performance director at the end of last season.

Despite United’s commitment to an overhaul that is likely to bring considerable changes in personnel at the end of the season, some academy staff are concerned that their work is not valued highly enough by Ed Woodward, United’s executive vice-chairman, who is perceived as being more concerned with making big-money signings than youth development.

Langley’s frustration is based on the difficulties he has faced in recruitment. Rather than cherry-picking the best young players in the north west of the country, as they were largely able to do during Sir Alex Ferguson’s time at the club, United have increasingly found themselves losing out to City and have been forced to recruit from lower-league clubs, offering trials last summer to players such as Paul Digby, a 20-year-old Barnsley defender who is now on loan at Ipswich Town of the Sky Bet Championship.

United have also suffered the embarrassment of former players such as Robin van Persie, Phil Neville and Darren Fletcher enrolling their sons with City, whose under-14 team beat their neighbours 9-0 this season.

So how have you managed to access the Times on line without paying for a subscription?

This is copyright anyway whether or not it is behind a paywall.

The forum owners regularly get legal threats from newspapers for exactly this cut and paste.

I was under the impression that @Ric and co only get in trouble if the entire article is posted, which is why I only copied relevant excerpts totalling ~200 words and not the whole thing.

The Times link is one I got from another forum, I don't know why it's not covered up by the paywall.

Even if his replacement was timmy mallet, the media would put a positive spin on it.
He'd struggle calling it the wide awake club though, seeing as most of their fans see a trip to the swamp as an opportunity to get some shut eye.

Bloke who comes to my works says his grandson works at the swamp part time while he's in University.
Sells raffle tickets at charity doo's etc....started laying them off as very few people are turning up to the events.

Over 50-odd years I've developed a deep loathing for anything remotely connected with the shite. Now LVG is doing my head in. I'm struggling to find any reason to dislike him.

Am I a bad person?

What's the prizes? Rooney's hair piece, one of family man Ryan's used johnnies, or the managers job once they realise turtle head ain't up for the job?

There has to be a direct correlation between how shit the turtle is and how much you like him, if they were top of the league I reckon you'd hate him more. When he keeps having strops in pressers and gives the slugs in the press shit, it makes it even harder to dislike him. He is a total pisshead and would be good value on a night out as well I reckon. Saying that, he is the manager of the dark side and therefore is a ****. Not a total **** like Crerand or GPC but he is still a **** none the less.

I think he's great. His media stuff is great viewing (did he really call Fat Custis fat? Please please let this be true!), and the team are getting mocked.

Compare him with Moyes (deluded statements, grovelling to Ferguson, media compliance and the team getting mocked) - still odious.

Is the correct answer.

Point taken but...

Has the rags dishing up shite football
They'll probably miss out on CL again
Never heard him diss City
Pressers are funny
Thinks journos are turds
Speaks as he finds
(This one's a guess). Probably thinks the family man's a piece of dick-cheese.

What's not to like?

Gotta say, in one way I'll be sad to see him go.... on the other hand watching the shite in a tailspin and panicking is very entertains.

I don't like the way he takes a wine list to the dugout for when he gets bored. Actually I like it.

I haven't got the same absolute loathing for the turtle as I did -and always will have- for the pisscan...or the combover King for that matter.
The turtle is an eccentric, and I quite like eccentrics. But having said that, he's a representative of the most repulsive club on planet earth, so yep, he's a Cnut.

ha ha the wife brought the mirror home from work and I just read a headline basically says reals transfer ban will scupper their deal for bale.a new reason for them not to get a mega deal done.rag fans must surely know its bullshit.
