Which would be worse?

Bit of a hypothetical, even juvenile, question but it's been a slow news day and some miserable sod locked all the player threads.

Was chatting with a mate at the weekend, and we were arguing what would be worse: losing the semi-final against Everton, or the final against Liverpool.

He thought losing the semi would be worse, as reaching the final and finishing as runners-up would still be an achievement of sorts.

For me, losing the final against them would be more unpalatable. The thought of 45,000 gloating scousers at Wembley, and the subsequent media love-in, would be unbearable.

Obviously I've no love for Everton and losing to them on Wednesday would hurt, but at least you could get home quickly and forget about it. Traipsing back from Wembley after a defeat isn't a pleasant experience, if Wigan in 2013 is anything to go by.

Losing the final would be horrific against them. I'd be staying over and would have to put up with those gloating fuckers all night whereas against Everton I'd just slope off to my car, drive home and go to bed! Haha!

Losing finals is always worse, long way back and costs more. The Spurs replay in '81 being by far the worst.

I would rather lose the semi final then as the same reasons you said to lose in the final and have them fuckers gloating in and outside the stadium. And the media creaming over them 'klopp begins times of glory' fucking knobheads.

Lose the semi final and get the FA cup back here it's been a while ;-)

I'm still scarred after losing 5 nil every season in the 80s/ 90s to Lpool . Really want to give them a stuffing , so to lose again to them and in a final would be unbearable

Losing the final would be worse. It would be another game in an already overcrowded schedule and all for nothing apart from a few quid for the club, It would also mean rescheduling the Newcastle match for midweek. We want to win the domestic cups or failing that exit them as soon as possible.

I have always said I would rather go to wembley and lose than not go at all from the mid 70s to a few years ago we did not get there often so any opotunity was a bonus but fuck it we will get there and will win.

Definitely losing to Liverpool in the final would be worse, as we had a foretaste of the depth of the media love-in 2 years ago. I just pray if we get there we don't set up against them like we did in the league game.......

Ah, that's a curveball that wasn't discussed. Would losing to Stoke in the final be as bad as losing to Everton in the semi?
Probably not but the smug look on Mark Hughes' face would be hard to stomach.

Wouldn't be nice to see the Stokies high sixing each other either.

I could live with losing to Stoke in the final, not least because their supporters are alright imo.

I used to dislike them, what with all the mither in the late 90s but most of those I spoke to at Wembley in 2011 seemed alright. They're not scousers, at least.
