Which would be worse?

Honestly, with the Carling Cup, I'm really not arsed until the final so a loss against Everton will be fine by me. Have a strong dislike for Liverpool fans, especially when they win something so couldn't deal with that in the stadium and on the way home.

Losing to Liverpool in the final. I want to see us win every trophy we play for having won fuck all for 35 years but I could take losing to Everton only if they go on and win the cup. Of course if Stoke get to the final that might alter my perspective on who I want to win it. I have some good mates who are Evertonians and in spite of Martinez I wouldn't begrudge them winning a trophy so long as we win at least the league.

No-brainer for me.

I cannot imagine that the attraction of 'going to Wembley' will ever get to a be anything but a fantastic day for me - the scum fans might demean this trophy - but we CITY fans should not (IMO).

One thing I really admire Pellers for is the way he plays a strong team in each round - for the fans a Wembley trip is fantastic.

If we win on Wednesday I get to take my 8 year old to her first cup final - hell what a day out.

Of course I will be gutted if we lose to them - she will likely be in tears, but all part of being a fan - but we do not get the chance to be there and cheer our team when the cup is lifted if we bow out on Wednesday.

The best finals to win are the worst to lose. And I think we need to travel to shitfield a couple of days later? If we win it'll be fantastic to go there. If we lose ...

You have mates Ric?? ;-) I never knew that...........

Money can buy you anything, Eccles ;)

A few years ago, a losing cup final might have been a welcome achievement in itself. Now, if we can't win it, I'd rather go out in the lower profile game and get on with trying to win the League.

I see a lot of comments about going out and avoiding the distraction from the league. Each to their own, I cannot personally believe that we are at a stage now where fans would not delight in a day out at Wembley - its wonderful. If we cannot be up for that how can we expect the players to be?

Anyway, in the current situation it is the 2nd leg of the semi-final - win it and we are at Wembley. A full day out and a chance to cheer our team as they lift the trophy. Yeah there is the downside of the risk of losing - but is it not better to be in there taking our chance? We would likely be favourites after all!! Glass half full and all that.....

It would exorcise a few ghosts by stuffing those thieves in the final, know exactly what you mean though, all throughout my youth they scared the shit out of me...

It could put to bed this inferiority complex that still exists (stupidly), similar to the rags in the fa cup semi!!!

This ^^^^^

80's and 90's sat in the Platt lane with the scouse cunts surrounding us was unbearable.

Plus it'd be Karma for the semi a few years ago when Fat Phil Dowd decided he wanted them to get to a final.

Let's do both of the scouse club cunts!!!

Amen brother.

Losing in the final and more costly.

I actually think Liverpool's honeymoon period is over now though and after the thrashing they gave us in the league, surely Pellegrini would have a plan for them. They are nothing special at all.

Losing in a final is always worse. Does anyone really still remember losing to the rags in the CL semi-final as vividly as losing to Wigan at Wembley? I still remember losing to Wolves in the LC final in 1974 but I couldn't tell you who we beat in the semi-final off the top of my head.

(Plymouth rings a bell for some reason).

Somehow to me it feels to be our destiny to lose the final to Liverpool, maybe really unluckily or controversially. I don't know why.

With the exception of United it is difficult to think of any clubs (Maybe Arsenal) I would least like to lose a crucial game to. Liverpool at wembley would be worse though with the world watching.
