I remember in the early months of the takeover we had an away game at West Ham. It was the same day the Rags were playing in the League Cup Final against Spurs. Our game against the Hammers was an early kick-off and myself and a few mates went to the working men's club (where the supporter's club branch I was a member of at the time was based) to watch it. There was a good smattering of blues in there but also plenty of United fans who were in for their game later on. We lost 2-1 and I still remember the immortal words that one mouthy red spouted as he was making his way away from the bar with his pint - "All that money and they're still shit!". Nearly 7 years on and I think it's fair to say that those words have come back to haunt the ****. The fact that he was also wearing a replica shirt with a soon to be departing Tevez's name on it makes it all the funnier!

That story has been all over the press for the last couple of days. It's been denied but the journalist who broke it (Miguel Delaney) is sticking by it. It deprnds what's going on there. You wouldn't let a manager walk if you haven't got anyone to replace him plus there seems to be a power struggle going on there between the Glazers/Woodward and Ferguson/Gill.

I'm not sure why any manager would resign from a job these days as getting sacked would earn them a pay-off. Turtle Head might not need the money but he'd be daft to turn his back on a decent wedge. Best thing he can do is do the job to the very worst of his ability and get to the point where they'd have no option but to fire him!

He's safe until the transfer window shuts.

Some of the wealthiest folk in football these days are those managers who have accumulated a handful of sackings from financially well-off clubs. It's pay up the contract or I stay, but I think it's the pressure from outside the boardroom that will get to Louis much sooner than any Giggsy love-in. According to the DT this morning he seems to have a very good relationship with FastEddie.

Unless MANUre have somebody lined up, not just lined up in the media, I think they will do their best to keep LVG on board. Remember the shite we took when Hughes was 'dead man walking' - it's not 'the United way', so they may well do their best to avoid that, despite Moaninho's love letters. And when the chips are down, I think they know that the Family Man is not upto the job so they won't want to let him have the rest of the season.

Louis stays!!

Just heard they've had a phone in on gmr on the rags this mornin, wish I'd known I missed it, anyone hear any of it ?

Exactly. They get millions a year for doing nothing. Why would they sell up, pay the debts off and then receive nothing in return!

I think it might be more using Utd as security.
They only take a few million a year themselves, aside from the silly share sales, which doesn't seem enough to make a difference.

They've put in abut 250M of their own money, and can sell for what's probably a clear billion profit. Not at all bad work.

That taking 400M+ out of Utd has been a major favour to the English game.

Do you think that Ferguson wouls push for the family man to get the job ao that he could manipulate behind the scenes ?

Panic has set in after five whales were found on the East coast. Now we hear about a Leviathan washed up on the banks of the Ship Canal, the bloated lump had apparently lost its way and was seen thrashing about looking for a solution to its demise. Apparently they cannot be sustained on a diet of noodles.

He's resigned 6 times and been sacked twice apparently.

Presumably some of those resignations are the 'mutual consent' type which come with a payoff.

That few million a year. Does it work out around ONE BILLION POUNDS over their stay at Old Swampy?

Only once they sell the club.
It's valued at what, 2 Billion, they've spent 250-300M, and have 350M (or so) debt to pay off in a couple of years.
The Glazers themselves are only taking 10-20M a year, aren't they, plus the 400-500M on interest/repayments which comes out of the club.

I said that earlier in the thread. I'm sure all the anti-LVG briefing is coming from that camp and that there's a struggle for control going on. Gill & Baconface out-manoeuvred the Glazers a few times in order to get them to spend money they'd have preferred not to spend and they've been sidelined.

I've said it before a few times that I doubt the Glazers give two hoots about the quality of the football or actually winning things. As long as they're in the top 4, getting into the CL last 16 or 8 and maybe an occasional decent domestic cup run they'll be happy enough with that. They've no interest in investing the sort of money needed for the quality of squad that could mount a serious challenge for the CL.

If Woo Woo is trying to prove he's got balls. He needs to hoof Briggs and allow TT his own trusted number 2. I'm not holding my breath...

I think its time to get this thread back on track:

wasn't there an anal lube with their "branding" on it sold in Indonesia or China...? Some daft name like "Sheep Sweat" or something. It was about the same time teh rags marketing campaign in India to flog cars to untouchable toe-rag pickers commenced.

Sorry I'd missed your earlier thread.

It makes sense that the arrogant and scheming GPC and Gill are behind any moves to remove LVG allowing themselves to take credit IF a revival could be effected using the family man as the pawn in the plot.

A continued decline and they throw Giggs to the wall as a failure ? Great club ...............doing things the " United way " !

So how much would you say they have actually taken out of United in the 11 or so years they have been at the helm already? Surely if the interest payments are being paid for BY the club FOR them, you have to include THOSE figures too?

It was on p621 where I posted my theory about a power struggle. I listened to Gill's interview on 5 Live on Sunday morning, when he said there were two boards (which wasn't a surprise in itself) but that members of the football board might be consulted individually by the New York board (on which Woodward and the Glazers sit). He didn't say the two boards work closely together and seemed to imply that the football club board (him, Baconface, Charlton, Mike Edelson & Richard Arnold plus the NY board members) was basically the public face of the football club. He said the NY board control everything but you can't imagine that people like him & Baconface, who worked so hard to get them where they got to, would be happy to see things slide as badly as they have.
