Post Match Thread: City vs Everton

I don't know if I also speak for StockportMackem (I hope I do), but a massive congratulations from this Sunderland supporter for getting to yet another final. it seems as if that competition is made for MCFC. I don't like either of the Merseyside clubs and love it when anyone beats them - but the icing on the cake is to be beat by a club that my own get's on well with in the semi-final of a cup competition.

I was on late's at Nissan this week so I didn't see SSNHQ last night for regular updates (I don't have SkySports). I hear Sergio played very well indeed. Good to see De Bruyne score. Looked as if you weren't going to make it when Barkley scored in 20 minutes. I dare say with a fully fit side the score would have been more dominant?

The sportsmanship shown by Sunderland fans as we left Wembley two years ago is an enduring happy memory of football as it should be, the sad thing is that no media sources reported it bit it was certainly appreciated by City fans as is your post.

As a complete contrast the media also missed the only thuggishness behaviour I have ever seen at Wembley as United fans were even roughing up children and kids.

Great night - really enjoyed it. Decent atmosphere. Great crowd. scousers upset. Meal in Vermillion after.

Brilliant - cant wait for villa now!

Love Sunderland - great fans - sadly think you will go down.

Everton fans disgraced themselves last night. Not sure how it ended up, but they were trying to start all kinds of trouble on the main road outside the coach park after the game.

Well I will have to watch it all again on TV. My impression of the match was that Otamendi had an excellent game.

To be fair I watched the game without following on here and was surprised with the bit of stick he was getting. Counted numerous times he won the ball 1 on 1. He just loves a slide tackle but needs to show a bit of common sense on occasion.

Only thing is he doesn't seem to be strong enough on occasions.

I think if Kompany gets back those two will be a great partnership.

Otamendi was perfect last night. Maybe the public humiliation he got on TV after West Ham benefited us last night. I know Aguero got mom but Otter was a contender
He wasn't perfect by any means as his needless diving in before their goal opened up a huge space for Barkley. Still had a lot to do and others were culpable but Ota was utterly brainless committing himself 35 yards out when he was well in front of the rest of the back 4. And he kept going to ground throughout the game. Mostly it came off and it looks great when it did but 4 times out of 5 he has no need to do it.

Wrong I'm afraid Marvin. He wasn't at his best at all.
I'm told he was at fault for their goal. I'll have to have a loof at that, but surely he and Demichelis totally bossed their forwards. An area beforehand where EFC might have had the edge.

dead pleased a blatant dodgy decision went against them...was also refreshing to see the worlds greatest ever defender getting torn a new one the cocky bastard ha

Mate, in the first half his defending was seriously poor. He was dragged out of position so many times at one point I thought he was playing full back. He was indisciplined and not just for the Everton goal. He has so many attributes including fantastic tackling ability but until he stops charging about like a lunatic, falling over and being physically bullied by forwards he will not be a top defender.

He does have a tendency to do that. 9 times out of 10 it works as well. There are some players who seem to love a tackle

That's his main fault, he can't stay on his feet. Looks great when he wins the ball, but when he doesn't he's either left in a heap on the floor and we are exposed or he gives away a free kick. I expected more for what we paid.

He actually slipped I think when trying to pressure Barkley but he didn't need to press too much as Barkley was only just inside our half. Poor defedning all round for the goal.

I rate him more than Mangala and it's still his first season here and there's been very little continuity for him to work with. I think if he just uses abit of common sense from time to time he'll be ok. But I do love the slide tackles, he doesn't hold back!

Interesting. Thanks for the comments.
