Post Match Thread: City vs Everton

Just me or anyone else disappointed with Silva again? Are we expecting too much of him?

Carelessly lost the ball a few times and Deulofeu should have scored off one of them.

Maybe I'm just being harsh.
Thought he played alright but wasn't really what we needed, with the short passing and close dribbling, which showed when he was forced into central midfield and let de Bruyne do the job in the attack.

Prepare to be disappointed or summat along those lines.
I'm loving the pain he must be feeling right now....

He is a negative fucker who ive had several dissagreements with myself.

I dont even think he is a City fan to be honest.

I thought he played in a midfield three first half at Leicester. It was reported anywhere but it looked to me like he was playing left side of a three. I was behind the goal so not sure my view was perfect. But he seemed deeper than normal there.

I can't remember, but I wonder if it could be that in a Pep system, where everyone works a bit harder & the team is much more efficient & better organised, that instead of a Yaya & two more energetic players, as started last night, we have Silva + 2 as the midfield 3, with the fullbacks adding to midfield, then say Sterling, Aguero, DeBruyne or similar in front of them. Depending on the oppo of course.

Bayern get away with Thiago in there & Silva's like Roy Keane compared to him. Xavi & Iniesta were hardly Colin Bell without the ball. The system allowed them to run the game. With a full 10 players all pressing together, perhaps Silva can do another 5 years in a slightly different role.

One thing I don't get about Everton fans is they like to try and wind up other fans, then get unbelievably upset and precious when someone banters them back. In the wise words of big sam 'THEY CAN'T TEK IT'

Bent media.
Telegraph report Everton had 6 shots on goal to our 5.
They must have been watching another game.

I thought Otamendi was our worst player. At fault for their first. It's not like him to take ball and man.
He is still far too rash, most come off and in all honesty, I was a rash centre half in my day and I love his tackling. But that totally needless foul he gave away in perfect Bains delivery range two minutes from time when we were down to 10 men was totally unacceptable. He really should know better.

If he calms his rashness, and doesn't chase the ball all over we really could have a gem.

I thought, other than 2 breakaways we defended well last night.

The two times we caught them offside in the final minutes just shows that we do and Pellegrini does know about defending. Couple that with being very good at defending set pieces, despite having just Demichellis who's 6ft plus in the second half. Shows we can defend. We are just vulnerable to the counter. Like most teams.

Spot on. Otamendi goes to ground in every scenario, the majority work but occasionally it makes him look like a tit and is dangerous. Most of our issues stem from not having adequate midfield cover to stop counters, and last night exemplified that. With 3 mids, we needed 1 to be disciplined and stay back.

Otamendi probably goes to ground too many times but he won so many tackles last night. He was outstanding for most of the game!

And once he directly led to a goal and another a free kick in a dangerous position when we were down to 10. As a defender his mistakes will cost us. He is mostly excellent, just needs a calmer head sometimes

I wasn't thrilled with that free kick he gave away with 3 mins to go. It seems that's just the way he plays.

I think we'd have scored 4 or 5 if needed last night we completely bossed the game after their goal.

All this ball in/out garbage is embarrassing and desperate.
