Motability - the farce

Bluemooners may have seen in today's news that 14, 000 disabled people have lost their vehicle or entitlement to their vehicle in the last year following cuts and changes to benefits entitlement and assessments that have been carried out by independent contractors for the Govt.

Now I would agree that some people were probably getting a vehicle or an allowance to which they were not ultimately entitled to however if its supposed to save money its just a big scam perpetrated by the contractors on us via the Govt which will cause misery to thousands who depend on their car for mobility, access ad to get to work.

Case in point - lad I know born with cerebral palsy. Has just had his motability car repossessed because there may be changes in his condition. You don't get better from CP - its a degenerative thing however they won't listen and his car - specially adapted for his use was taken back. In order to continue to attend Uni the local authority are now providing a Taxi. His repossessed car will go to auction and sold at a bargain price into the trade. Meanwhile he can be reassessed by the provider - the assure him he is 99.9% certain to get his entitlement restored and he will be able to chose a replacement car - which when adapted for him at some cost will be available in around 4 months. Of course the provider that took the car away also gets the gig to reassess him - a foregone conclusion they say - meanwhile keep using the paid for Taxi's. Every fucker in the process is making a butty out of the system and the taxpayer for no good reason

And that fuckwit IDS says this is saving money.................

The lad in question is my nephew - didn't want to come across as having an axe to grind. My sister is fuming and the lad was devastated - his independence has gone for the moment - still everybody else gets a living out of it down to the cabbies charging to get him round - its fucking madness

Wife had her PIP assessment on the 12/1/16 after first making a claim in November last yr. I attended with her Kaz and it wasn't too bad. Whether that was because she had prettydetailed hozzy/consultant reports i don't know. Her knee is bolloxed after a minor op to fix a medial ligament tear.

I sent a great letter in with the forms from my gp and he will back me through appeals if needed.They only called me yesterday to come tomorrow so it was too short notice for him to be here so i hope it will go ok on my own

Yeah well he's had an 11 month old car with 3k miles on it taken back - bargain for somebody - just not the taxpayer.............

Yeah but to set up a review that effectively sanctions just about everybody just to reinstate them and cost the taxpayer probably millions and make the body who decides it all one of those who stand to benefit most from abusing the referrals system is madness - its like making the train operating companies have the decision on by how much fares should rise each year.

The brainchild of IDS about whom even John Major commented -

The fight I had with them to get a home visit for Mrs Stony was protracted to say the least. They originally denied it but after a phone call agreed to a home visit. Didn't hear anything for a couple of months and then got a letter saying she had to attend a medical in Barnsley. Rang them again and spoke with someone for over half an hour while they questioned both of us. They agreed to a home visit again and we got another letter saying the first appointment was cancelled and they would be in touch about a home visit. Didn't hear anything for six months so I rang them. They told me she couldn't have a home visit because she didn't qualify for one. They even said the only reason that one had been agreed in the first place was to "shut us up". They asked why she should have have a home visit and I told them all the relevant details had been included with the PIPS form. They denied having received anything with the form. I told them we'd sent it recorded delivery to which they replied "no you didn't, everyone sends their forms back in the free envelope" and my answer was that I know how often they lose things like PIPS forms, medical records and doctors notes, so I definitely sent it recorded delivery and had a signature to prove it. They asked if they could come back to me. She got a new letter in the post a week later with another appointment to attend a medical. I rang them back and was less than pleasant with them. Then a nurse rang us back and did a telephone assessment to see if she qualified for a home visit. What the fuck they can tell over the phone I don't know. It was only after this that they agreed finally to a home visit.
The whole process is designed to make people just give up, and a lot of disabled people are doing just that. Which is what the cunts want.

I sent the forms recorded and tracked so they couldn't say they didn't get them.Both my gp and me told them in there that it would have to be a home visit and have not had to fight for it.I know IDS has changed the system to make it harder,it's disgraceful
