Motability was a racket that got out of hand.
It became very easy indeed to qualify for a free car. My dad was told he'd qualify for one 20 odd years ago because of a very minor disability which hasn't stopped him being fully mobile either then or in the years since.
The Motability gravy train looks like it has hit the buffers, much like the ones for disabled status and incapacity benefit.

Go and read the criteria for qualifying for motability.

Not sure how this could be done as when the lady died her benefits would obviously no longer be paid therefore Motability would not get paid...i assume how thats how its works, i do of course stand to be corrected, but if so this guy could not possibly have kept the car for that long.
Exactly.
It as offence to not inform of any change of circumstances and the guy would have been taken to court for fraud.

It was obvious he'd be stinking up another thread with his Taxpayers Alliance trolling, like he does with every single other thread that relates in any way to public spending. He is an exceptionally bitter individual who resents every single penny of tax he has to pay. He doesn't care that our welfare state, our NHS and our public services are the glue that binds society together. He would do away with all of it. He is a complete fucking misanthrope.

No he didn't, he said he said he informed them at the time she died and they didn't come for it so it was their fault.The cheeky devil even asked to buy it but the price they quoted was too dear.I don't wonder they're in a mess but as usual it's genuine people who suffer.I would hope that the fucker got a bill for the 10/11 months that he held onto it.

Motability was,is and never has been a gravy train or a racket,sure just like anything else a small number have taken the piss,compare that to the corporations paying sweet fa in tax,some politicians fleecing us for all they can get the amount of money wasted by bureaucratic cock ups and any flaws in the motability system pale in to insignificance.Motability was a racket that got out of hand.

When I was kid it was usually war veterans who were given a three wheeled deathtrap which made a reliant look like a rolls royce,they were single seaters meaning the disabled always travelled alone.
Thankfully motability came along and enabled families and carers to travel with those eligible,it's never been easy for just anyone to get a free car,your comments are symptomatic of those who always regard some getting something for nowt and smacks of a little jealousy rather than being glad that motability was so forward looking an idea which has given some form of independence to thousands.

Wife got her judgement today through the post, a positive one at that. First things first, get your ducks in a row by checking up on the various web sites what their criteria actually is, and fit your case within it.
Look at the rules they have to follow an make f*cking sure they stick to every single one, remember they are the public servants so hold them to serving your needs, not their desire to fill in a f*cking form.
If you can not preform a task on a "Bad" day, then the answer is no, not sometimes, if you dont think the answer they want to put in is correct then challenge it, in fact read what they want you to sign an if you disagree it does not reflect your case ( Or suits an excuse to disadvantage you) then refuse to put your name to it without clarity.

Well just had the assessment to change from DLA to PIP,ex paramedic,very nice and seemed to go well but i'm deeply suspicious of ATOS so we will see what happens
Hope all goes well on the assessment. Did they give you any indication how long you'll have to wait to hear?

Correct. As I always said to claimants when I was completing the forms with them, answer the questions as though it's your worst day, even if today is one of your better days.
