Blue Moon Song

i have asked before ,why is the song not played pre kick off anymore ,someone has ballsed that one up

dont agree, no one ever seemed to sing it when it was played anyway. why dont we as fans just sing it when the game starts.

I don't know but I'm sure there are loads of blues more creative than me who can come up with something.

Is there another team that has a song like it? What I mean is, is there another team that sings a known song as theirs? I know Liverpool sing ynwa but Blue Moon is a more universally known track.

There's something about the four lines of Blue Moon that we sing for me personally, that just epitomises City for me... 'Dream in my heart... Love of my own'.

Therefore I'm afraid I don't agree when you say that we need a new one, I think the one we have is just fine.

Sheffield United greasy chip butty ;)

The etihad was rocking that night. I think the roof would of blown off if caicedo didn't miss that sitter. We claim the roof isn't the right sort for keeping sound in, but that night proved that claim is nonesense. It was spine tingling.

for sure, the eruopa games against teams like poznan and aris proved there is nothing wrong with the roof. all we need is everything singing, which doesnt happen now.

that quarter final was amazing, everywhere was rocking from the pubs beforehand to the stadium

It was sung at least 3 times on Sunday and is regularly sung at home and away matches. It was sung quite a few times at Aston Villa for example.

The club, for reasons best known to itself, appear to have stopped playing it before the match starts which was a good starting point to matches. If Liverpool can always play YNWA & West Ham IFBB before their matches I don't see why we can't play our Blue Moon before ours.

That pop punk version of Blue Moon they used to always play was shite though. I think they should play one of the old versions. The Marcels version isn't exactly easy to sing along to though.

I really like the version Beady Eye did actually.

I love that song, its just City through and through for me. Sends shivers down my spine when i hear it really belted out, then we go and ruin it by breaking into that shitty fast version.

It has been sung for nearly 30 years now as Manchester City's song so I think we can safely say it has been ours for a very long time!! I've been watching City on and off for nearly 60 years and it is the song I remember most. (According to our very own Gary James, the first time he heard it was in 1989/90, strangely enough at Anfield!)

How long do we have to sing a song for it to be recognised as ours then in your opinion?

I think our very own Gary James was hearing things in 89, not everything Gary says is gospel you know!! I'd say it was 97ish.

I suppose some clubs have had anthems from the 60s I'd say those songs belong to the clubs, I've just never liked the song.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my, thank you, i needed a good laugh :)

I grew up with the "we are the boys who are playing to win" song - not sure what, if anything, came before that.

I do miss them playing Blue Moon before the start though

the atmosphere was electric that night. In town, approaching the ground and then in the ground itself. Everyone was 'well up for it'.

Of course, years before Blue Moon we did sing You'll Never Walk Alone with a passion when we celebrated major successes. If you doubt that, come to The Boys In Blue film show in June and you'll see City fans singing it loud and proud in 1976. You'll also see the players recording The Boys in Blue and, if I'm not mistaken, Blue Moon on the Kippax terracing in 94. Details http://www.nwfa.mmu.ac.uk/public_screenings.html
