Bersant Celina and the EDS lads...

Well the lads won the return game with Utd U21 1-0. Totally dominant start to finish - unlucky not to win by 3 or 4 by all accounts. And with half the regulars missing too.

Went on BluemoonRisingTV and predicted my team for tomorrow if anyone fancies a watch...

I'm pretty sure I'll be very, very close.

No one with an IQ over 20 is going to criticise the kids if they get well beaten.

This.

Jürgen Christ played a whole team of kids against Exeter and that didn't go too well first time around. Still, it gave them valuable experience in playing a high stakes cup game. We're not exactly playing Exeter and I'll be over the moon for some of those lads that get to start regardless of the result.

The important thing a few need to keep in mind tomorrow is that one game isn't going to define their career and ability but it could be a springboard for any who impress.

No one with an IQ over 20 is going to criticise the kids if they get well beaten. No city fans worth listening to are that stupid. And in the media Pellegrini will get all the criticism for playing them and debasing the glorious traditions of the FA Cup.

You'd think, however, that won't necessarily be the problem... Some players feel the psychological impact, most notoriously at young ages... He's literally hanging them out to dry in this scenario...

Literally? ;)

They're young, anyone who's going to feel the psychological impact is going to end up feeling that whenever they get to play. I think that they'll be much more relaxed knowing they're not the only kid on the pitch.

There's always a few but I think most of us aren't expecting miracles and, even if they end up disheartened after a thrashing, they'll still get our support and respect.

On the flip side, as improbable as it might be, they could end up beating Chelsea and just imagine what that would do for their confidence.

Given that the cup is relatively low priority, I think the pros outweigh the cons on this one.

No chance Hart is starting. Willy is the cup keeper and i can't see anything changing that. The rest of the team isn't a bad shout though. although i think only a maximum of 3 from the 4 eds midfielders will start with Barker likely to be benched.

Caballero

Zabaleta sagna demichelis kolorov
Fernando dinho
Sterling Silva Celina
Nacho

I think that's what will be picked

Who's actually unavailable right now? Manuel said we only have 13 (I think) players available from the first team and that we'll obviously be prioritising the champions league.

Playing our two RBs before mid week seems high risk.

Manuel has to balance it, starting a rookie centre back could be disastrous. Sagna at CB won't be as demanding as RB.

I think he'll play a lot more senior players than expected. I wouldn't be surprised to see a full team

Exactly. They have a free hit. Everyone is expecting them to lose. If they were the only young player on the pitch and made a fuck up which cost us the game...then you'd expect there to be some psychological scarring and blame.

But when everyone in the world is expecting you to lose, the club and manager are saying just go out and give it your best shot, the FA have fucked us with scheduling etc. There should be no risk of them losing their confidence. Worst case scenario they get played off the park and they learn how far they have to go and with the right attitude, Wilcox and co can use that to motivate them to keep working hard and improving.

IMO the worst case scenario is they go out and play like individuals trying to inpress, but I really don't see that happening.

There's also a case to be made that having a bunch of them together makes it easier, they already have chemistry with their teammates, they know how each other play and should be on the same wavelength.

Pellegrini has this rule about playing 2 games in a row. When we have a cup game wth Willy, he plays him in the league before so he's not out of match practice when the KO game comes around.

He didn't do that, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Hart play. Not just because Willy didn't play vs. Spurs, but because he won't want Hart to be knocked out of his rhythm before Kiev.

It could be either of them.

Currently out injured.

On top of that, Kompany is still coming back, Sagna has trained once, and Silva is constantly one kick to the ankle away from missing weeks.

Imagine the shit that would hit the fan if Sagna was to sustain a freak injury and Zabba got up to his old antics of getting his head kicked into row Z. Playing Clichy and Kolarov against Kiev would be painful, this place would then go into meltdown and they'd have to put Pellegrini into witness protection.

I just think it will be Sagna at right back and... someone else at centre back.

Guardiola won't be exactly the same. Their two styles are very very different. Pellegrini is a lot closer to the tactical turtle's style than Guardiola's. Pep's predominantly a possession manager but he doesn't restrict players like Pellegrini clearly does. His teams always take risks by both taking people on and with risky passes, they just work tirelessly to retrieve the ball if it doesn't come off and then try again. At Barca he had Iniesta, Messi, etc that went past players, At Bayern he had Robben and Ribery and now Costa that all love to take people on. We've got Sterling and the others i mentioned that are all capable but never do, Celina's words explain why.

Oh - there is a difference. It depends on where they loose the ball and take the 1vs1 situations. There is a reason why Shaqiri did not get much match time... And - it is about tactical behaviour when the ball is lost and about winning back the ball very fast, too.

Manuel never said navas was still injured did he?

He's not always done it though. Plus, Willy will get 2 games in a week when he plays in the final next week too. Willy tomorrow, Hart in Kiev, back to Willy for the final before normal service resuming at Anfield.

It could ruin a kid to be centre back against Chelsea and get a trimming off Costa, especially if Demi plays too.

Maybe a new kid will play RB and sagna CB

am all for giving the youth the chance but the EDS lads are well off what we are after at this moment and pellegrini will only pick couple for Chelsea away if the club are giving up on the cup just to make up the numbers. sadly I don't see anything other than city losing with whats on offer if the EDS lads start
