Proof that Manchester IS blue

It's rare you hear an English accent in Manchester city centre? That's a ridiculous statement! Where do you go? Exclusively to China Town? I spend a lot of time in town and I hear English and mostly Mancunian accents on every street I walk down.
Thought the same.

I think surveys like that are a load of crap. Personally I think there are more United "fans" in Manchester however when you do meet a fellow blue from Manchester it is highly likely they regularly go to matches and know what they are talking about. Most United fans you meet don't go to the games but have a cheap replica shirt, are the first to take the piss when things go their way and go missing as soon as United go on a bad run.

I've always noticed any rags from Plymouth/Telford/Lincoln etc etc have an excuse why they support them.
"After reading about the air disaster I knew they were the team for me"
"My grandad was based in manchester during the war"
"Ralph Milne was my dad's best mate"
They always have some shitty excuse to justify there support for a team that is hundred of miles away from where they live and non have the bollocks to just say "do you know what , I just picked them because they were winning everything"
Feckless, gutless Twats who deserve any misery that comes there way.
I saw them on tv 12 years before I was born and my dad wore red on Saturdays plus my mum once thought about going to Manchester but forgot where she left the car keys. I know where Manchester is its north of Milton Keynes, I love giggsy he shagged my wife once

Should i really take the risk ?
Well if you wait till Utd are out if the CL for next season I can't see the problem.
Of course if the offspring are all of the red persuasion that is definately a reason not to bother. Mine, born in 83 and 88, are acutely aware of what happens to the feeble minded born to Citizens of Sparta and are implementing a similar policy with their own.

All three are blues

Talking of fans from lower league teams latching on to the rags, I seem to remember Swansea asking their fans not to come to their first game against them after promotion in any rag gear.
I live in Swansea now. They all supported Yoonited a few years ago. My local pub is full of cunts who are now adorned in Swansea merchandise and go to games. Whenever they lose I make a point of saying loudly how they will all be Rags again for the week. They bite like fuck, which is a sure sign that they know they have been busted

All this survey suggests is that Utd and Liverpool draw their support nationwide whereas most other clubs have a regional bias. That doesn't mean that City are No.1 in Manchester.

I think we beat them in terms of real match going support in both the City of Manchester and Greater Manchester as a whole.

In terms of total "support", if people who never go are to be included as supporters, it's probably close to 50/50 in the city itself with them well ahead across the wider area. I'd say only Manchester, Stockport and Tameside could arguably be blue using that measure and I wouldn't be 100% certain about any of them. So is a guy who never goes a supporter? Not for me they're not.

absolutely loads of united fans in stockport

Tameside is definitely blue based on match going support. On the analysis of season ticket holders a number of years ago there was almost double the number of match going supporters per head of population in comparison to Manchester itself.

The most interesting data, in relation to this subject, was when submitting the planning application for the South Stand extension. It highlighted the club is still very localised in relation to match going support. I know some think differently and wish to embrace a more global following but for me it is something which is very important. A club should be representative of its community.

In terms of match going support the stereotype is right: Stockport is very blue as are Manchester and Tameside. If we include tossers who never go and watch matches in the pub though it's pretty close even in Stockport.

suppose, coach loads of united fans go from around cheadle i know that. theres even an fc united bus that goes from cheadle. Most match going city fans are either from manchester/ have links or live in near by towns. i dont even think the stockport thing is an insult tbh, united fans seem to love the fact they come from salford, even though its basically the equivalent of stockport.

Yes the whole Stockport thing is very strange. Like you say no different from Salford. I think they use it to underline the fact that a lot of our support is from the areas just outside of the City of Manchester as a retort to our jibes about them not being from Manchester. The reality is we view them with contempt more for the fact that the majority of their match going support is from outside of the Manchester Area/NW Region than for the fact that they play in Trafford, although, of course, they DO play in Trafford!

its just laughable mate. its not even an insult, i can drive to the city centre in 15 minutes from where i live, right next to outer manchester - burnage, didsbury. bit different to living down south like a lot of their fans do. I've even had united fans from stockport say to me ' typical stockport city fan' when they themselves live in stockport. i think its great most of our match going fan base is local/close, bet they wish they still had that.
