Michael Oliver

More than any player in the league Lucas seems to get away with three or four bad tackles before he gets a card. The modern day Scholes.

Not really related (or maybe it is) Henderson is the modern day Rooney man marking the ref telling him what decisions to make.

Every single decision that goes against Liverpool, be it a foul or just simply a throw in he screams fuck off into either the ref or linesmans face and gets away with it, how? Why?

Moreno throwing himself at Fernandinho in the first half (and still barely making any contact) was a disgrace and a nailed on yellow for simulation. Lucas on Aguero was a foul in any of the 50 years I've been watching football and a definite yellow in the current climate, Final or not. The pen shout just cannot be a non-decision, it's either a pen or Aguero is booked for simulation, there's no grey area with that sort of incident.

Can´t help but compare the way how the Rugby ref dealt with a yellow card for an England player on Saturday. Took his time then sent him off after consulting everyone including video evidence. That coupled with what seemed an obvious try for Ireland being disallowed because none of the officials saw the ball grounded and all the video angles could not also so he ruled no try.

My point is they are the rules and the ref followed them perfectly whereas in Football there is too much left for a ref to get things wrong either because he bottles it or lets his personal judgement influence the rules.

Pretty much performed as expected, avoided cards where possible and didn't give us a blatant penalty. Pretty much a standard gutless Oliver performance.

His career will be defined by his constant failures to make the hard decisions (Fulham penalty at the swamp in 11/12, 2 cast iron penalties in the derby last year, another yesterday).

Just weak.

Referees are now told to be 100% he would looked at that and referees now think did he dive before was it a penalty.

Has anyone seen the penalty talked about in the media or know if Oliver will be reprimanded?

As bad as a miss as you will ever see IMO.

I just saw a reply on TV of the penalty for the first time. This probably won't make me popular on here but I don't think it was a penalty. Aguero went down quite easily. He took a heavy touch and I think he realised the covering defender was going to get to the ball before him, felt the touch and went down. I think the TV angle looking straight at the goal gives the best view.

That miss by Sterling though.. ooow. So glad we won as that might have stayed with him and effected his confidence.

Doesn't make any odds of he went down easy, the only question that needs answering is was it a foul? As it was it should've been a penalty.

Dont think it was a 'stone waller' penalty either. Aguero played for it now don't get me wrong he didn't DIVE I think he saw Moreno sticking his leg out and invited the contact. Could of been given like the vardy vs Arsenal but wasn't 100% a penalty and could understand why ref didn't give it.

No disrespect, but I can't believe anybody seeing that could not say it was a penalty. Rednap admited it was after the game, Graham Poll on Skysports.com's Ref Watch said it was.

I don't have my blue tinted glasses on when I say it was 100% a pen!

I don't think it was a foul tbh. I was quite high up so I couldn't see at the time and few neutral mates thought it was. I just think if that would have been Sturridge going through and a penalty given we would have all been up in arms saying he went down easily etc.

Suppose the important thing is that it didnt' effect the result.

I wouldn't, I'd be cursing whichever dozy twat defender stuck his leg out like that with no chance of winning the ball.

I'm astounded that a few think it wasn't a penalty.

Astounded.

Ha-ha seriously? Come on.. Aguero at Southampton 100% pen, this one, no. If that was a Liverpool winning penalty decison at 94th minute there would be a thread on here saying Oliver is bent etc.

It was a penalty, whether it looked like it or not (And it did imo), it was technically a pen. He stuck his leg out and missed the ball hit Aguerro who went down (Like all attackers do when they invite the penalty. Look at the exasperation on the City players at not getting some of the decisions yesterday, usually we're a bit blase but they were up in arms at some of the shocking decisions yest

The defender is beaten all ends up and with his back to Kun, throws his wrong leg backwards and makes contact.

It's stonewall.

He has previous with Aguero:

But he also has a habit of sending United players off:
