More flat track bullying

Probably nothing much different. They're not very imaginative.

Probably just cut and paste from one of the many losses we have sustained over the last two seasons. After a while you sort of numb yourself to the inevitability of them. Yay. Go Pellers! Let's beat these...oh well never mind. Maybe next time eh?

Yes because Bobby never lost a game and his side never had the arse fall out of it.

It is clear that many of our fans have lost touch with where we have a come from

I have seen on this site within the last 2 days are manager is a ****, this side is dross and we are now numb to the inevitability of another loss

Jeez we may now be a rich club but this manager is about as classy as it gets no matter whether we agree or disagree with his decisions do none of you remember Mel Machin, Alan Ball and Stuart Pearce

This side is dross really!!! Give your head a wobble we have won the League Cup, we are 4th in the Premier League with a game in hand on our all rivals and we have a 3-1 lead after the away leg in top last 16 of the Champions league if you think this is dross you have probably forgotten that 17 years ago we were playing Mansfield in the Auto Windscreen and losing!!!!

The issue is our fans now have unrealistic expectations we think this team should win every game they play and if not the players are shit, dont care or the manager is clueless. This sesnse of entitlement means that we as fans sit back and wait for something to happen rather than making things happen and despite winning 4-0 against Villa the chant of this is library was so true

When we lose we get 100 pages of anger when we win we get 20 pages of meh so what!

I think we fans as a collective need to look at ourselves and remember where we have come from and understand that we are the lucky ones who are able to watch this team

I agree that we are flat track bullies but the Villa game didn't do anything to confirm that.

Our record speaks for itself this season and there have been plenty of discussions pre yesterday's game on the issue.

I think that after a busy period and a 4-0 win we should be looking forward rather than using it as a stick to beat the players with.

You will get pelters for that mate but there is a lot of truth in it.

Look. We are a different beast these days to club that we all grew up watching get beat every other week. With the investment its only right that expectations have risen and this club is now about winning things but its been forgotton that we have won plenty of late. 2 league titles, 2 league cups and an FA cup with constant improvement in the CL.

Football is a sport played by humans and mistakes, injuries, other sides getting better, in fact a multitude of reasons means that a win is never guaranteed or a perfect performance every week is to be expected. Its unrealistic and is never going to happen.

I discussed this with a poster last night who snapped back at me when i said we have forgotton the 2 league titles we have won in the last 4 years. He said, we have also forgotton the years we didnt win it to which i said, i hadnt, we finished 2nd!

The core of this squad has been here a while now and served the club fantastically well but its getting older and naturally, its time to re build. To go with that job the club has got arguably the best in the business to come in and imo, he will take us to the next level.

Given what we have acheived in such a short space of time, the next level is going to be something very special indeed but alng the way, we will play shit, we will make mistakes and we will lose games and miss out on trophies.

Its the reality of sport and not an example of everyone being shit or needing sacked.

Relax we're just having a bit of fun. Clinch a CL spot, progress to QF of CL and with a pot in the bag this season's a good 'un for me.

I like watching City hammer anyone 4-0 but I don't like losing 3-0 at Anfield or any of the too many defeats against the better sides.

We sold Milner in the Summer. Replaced him with Delph. Delph got injured day 1. Toure is one year older. We added De Bruyne and Sterling. Going forward we are as good as ever. Maybe dipped a bit as we don't have Toure's barnstorming runs. Those one twos on he edge of the box were unstoppable.

Defensively we are much weaker. This is highlighted by the record of wins against poor teams, and draws and losses against the better teams.

Therefore highlighting City's record against good /bad teams is not just taking wins for granted but pointing out that the stat might reveal something about what City are good at, and what we might not be so good at.

It's an interesting discussion for another thread (maybe even another forum judging by some of the replies in here from the lamenters) - but without competitiveness I think football very quickly would become very boring. If the league were weak and City were one of two teams guaranteed to win the title every year amassing 90 points + each time and regularly hammering sides by four or five goals - how long before it'd seem a bit pointless? For me very quickly. The football we've put on show hasn't been to my liking for a lot of this season, but beyond that i've got no problem with being in a league where four or five teams can win it and where you have to accept that the competition is fierce.

We have all convinced ourselves that since 92, the PL is the best in the world. It hasnt been, its been a closed shop for a couple of sides whilst the rest fight to stay in. The new tv deal will see more Leicesters as most sides can now compete to sign top quality players and managers and the league really will see a true competition.

Its to be welcomed and embraced, even if it means we might not win everything all the time.

We used to hammer the good sides and stumble against the lesser ones. This season we've done a 180 on that. I remember statements from players in pre season saying we must be ruthless against all teams.

As much as I love Pellers, I don't think he adapts to our opponents (couple of notable exceptions aside eg Fernandinho v Kiev) as much as other managers seem to, and now, I think the more tactically astute managers know how to frustrate and beat us.

Looking forwards to watching us with Pep's in-game management next season.

You say we are defensively weaker could it not also be that other teams are stronger. We still have the 4th best defensive record and are 1st in goals for equal with Leicester. At the same point last year we had conceded just 4 goals less.

Its not just about us there are other teams striving to be successful and just because we lose does not mean we are shit. This time in 2012 we and United were 13 points points clear of Arsenal in 4th now the top 7 are covered by 13 points

You could also argue that last year we lost to "bad" teams Burnley Crystal Palace yet we beat "good" teams like United Tottenham so there is hardly a trend

This is the most bullshit, irrelevant argument ever used to justify our current position and form. Where we have come from is that we have seen hundreds of millions of pounds invested in the team since 2008. I think most of us know we'll have the odd bad game or that players will go through a loss of confidence or dip in form but there should be the expectation that we will be better than most other teams most of the time. That's not being arrogant or entitled - it's what we should expect.

The second bullshit argument is that the PL is more competitive. Maybe is it but that doesn't explain why we're playing well below expectation.

Here's the table showing results against the top half.

Look where we are and tell me why we're down with the relegation contenders. Tell me why Norwich & Newcastle have done better than us.

If we had even 20 points, instead of the 9 we do have, we'd be top by one point with a game in hand. If we had the 23/24 that the top three clubs in that table have, we'd be cruising to the title.

I think we have to get used to a league like the one we've had this season with teams in the top 8 all being capable of taking points off each other and therefore making the overall race a much more competitive one. Except for us of course because we clearly have no intention of beating any of the top 8 this season! :)

I am sorry that is arrogance personified. Why should we expect to beat most teams. By that token so should Chelsea Liverpool United and Arsenal. Are you saying Leicester and Tottenham shouldnt win games becaus ethey havent spent as much money as us.

It fine you printing tables over a specified period to try and make some spurious point the truth is we are 4th and if we win our game in hand we will be 3rd its the reality

I think it's daft to immediately focus on the negatives so soon after winning but I get the frustration.

It often seems like the mindset of our players and Pellegrini is that in the tough games our 'talent' will get us through rather than hardwork. As soon as the belief in talent is rocked, we often crumble. In fairness yesterday, the team worked hard against limited opposition and created lots of openings: the first half must have frustrated them as much as us but the hard work paid off.

I know you're thoroughly unhappy with a lot of things mate, but I really don't see the point in using limited stats like to make a point. We're 4th and winning our game in hand puts us 3rd. We're there on merit. Granted it's been an incredibly disappointing league season, for me as much performance wise as results wise. There's a litany of reasons, and Pellegrini is most certainly one of the major ones. However the wider context is absolutely that it's a more competitive league and whilst we can argue the toss over certain results, the truth is that the top 8 sides in the league are much tougher than in previous seasons. Doesn't excuse our record against them, but overall if we end the season in the top 3 i'm not sure it'll matter too much.

Chelsea and United both do, have and should expect to beat most teams.
