Innapropriate Chants

I think too many middle aged / old geezers on here are guilty of trying to force their moral compass on the young and naive. You're acting like pinko PC lefties, taking offence on behalf of others. There's a world of difference between for example a gang of blues in town encountering Bobby Charlton and singing Munich58 at him than singing it at a gang of reds in a different section of the ground none of whom were personally affected by it. Get off your high horses you holier than thou dorks and cast your mind back to your own less than saintly youth.

When you're 16 or 20 or maybe even 25 ignorance is bliss, death means fuck all to you, you're immortal, you may not have been close to anyone who's died and you have no real concept of death so singing songs about a few ancient footballers who died in a plane crash 30 or 40 years before you were born is just a fun way to wind up the rags.

Leave em to it, let em have fun while they can.

Way back in the mid 60`s,the Kippax constantly sang the following ditty :
"Harry Roberts is our friend,is our friend,
Harry Roberts is our friend,
He kills coppers"
The gentleman in question had shot and killed three policeman in London and the song was chanted at the police who used to walk from the main stand over to the Kippax area at approx 3.05 pm.For those of you who are not aware about Roberts just Google his name.
Goes down as one of the worst songs ever.Yes even at the tender age of 15/16 I can honestly say I never ever sang that song, but it unfortunately became the norm for thousands up and down the country to use it.

I don't sing about Munich however much I hate the rag cunts.
But they sing far worse about Hillsborough so in some respect I can understand why people do sing it

Fucking hell we have threads about standing up and singing 'offensive' songs. Cheer up you moaning cunts

Maybe you could turn that into some sort of ditty.

Good idea...

Fucking hell we have thre.... eads
about standing up and singing 'offensive' songs.

Cheer up you moaning cunts
And you wannabe Jeremy Hunts
Coz they can't get the aeroplane to go.

There have been humourous distasteful chants and let's face it, that's football. Some have gone from being Jimmy Carr puns to chants that make you cringe. I personally didn't and don't get the need to call Davd Moyes and Fergie Pedophiles, etc. That said, I'm not asking for a full blown requiem, just something my grandparents or friend's children can understand...

Anything goes agin the rags.

They are dirty,vile,loathsome,girl hitting cnuts.

We hate them & they hate us more than ever before.

"Not in my life time". How the pant shitting old Govan piss can must regret that attempt to belittle 'liccle old citeh'

We are right in their heads,we are their living sleeping nightmare.

AND WE ARE NOT GOING AWAY.....GOOD INNIT ?

Chants from the rags last night were very PC weren't they.

'The Sun was right, you're murderers'

Grim set of fans. Both of em.

I assume the likes of Sky, BT Sports, BBC etc will be condenming the vile scum after their wonderful rendition last night....

"You'll never catch the Ripper" was a Leeds favourite sung at the West Yorkshire police at home games in the late '70s.

Totally wrong but very funny at the time as the police were floundering. Nobody used to take chants at all seriously back then not even the vilest ones.

99.9% of people who sang them didn't actually agreed with what they were singing about but were singing them as a wind up.

If you weren't around at the time you wouldn't understand the gallows humour that prevailed in society in general.

Football saw it in it's rawest form but whenever any sort of tragedy occurred there were all sorts of vile jokes about it doing the rounds within days of it happening. The viler the better.

Obviously nobody wants to go back to the racist, sexist, homophobic days of yesteryear but people need to lighten up a little. Songs about Munich or Belsen have no place these days but jokes and chants about rivals should still have an edge about them otherwise what's the point? I quite like the "Giggs tearing families apart" song for instance.

As a footnote the Leeds fans were proved right. In the end South Yorkshire police caught the Ripper. Shame really it ended a good chant ...

If you feel outraged by my previous sentence you really don't get '70s or 80s humour.

No wonder grounds are silent with limp wristed fans who would rather hold opposing fans hands than slag them off....football is tribal and about banter and piss taking, people who take songs seriously are just sad bastards..saying that songs about Hillsborough and Munich can be left to the fore mentioned teams involved in that second tier Europe comp on Wednesday. ..leave them to it...

Limp wristed fans? How inappropriate. It is 2016 you know?
