When i disagree with them being 'professional' i don't mean to say they were 'unprofessional' i just don't think we played 'within ourselves' last night like some seem to be suggesting. I think we tried to actually win the game every bit as much as we did at Carrow Road, but in the end, we created next to nothing. And that's my worry.

Ah right my apologies, the implication in your original post was slightly different. I agree that the attacking players tried every bit to win the match as they did against Norwich. In fact you could see the disappointment in Kun's eyes at the final whistle. He probably knows himself that he's not been anywhere near as clinical as he can be. It is definitely a worry how lacking in fluidity our attacking play has been this season. It's hard to pin point what the issue is. I do think that having KDB in the side masked this to some degree because of his innate ability to do something magical and conjure a goal/assist out of nothing.

As I said earlier though, I think our best performances have been in the CL this season and that is at least some cause for optimism considering we're still in the competition.

The real lack of confidence IMO is in the final third. I've never seen Silva/Kun collectively struggle to break through limited opposition as often as I have in recent weeks. With Yaya back the performance behind them was fine, even after the injury to Vinny.

Be interesting to see how we look in the derby. By rights our midfield three of Toure, Dinho, Fernando should run that game.

I would have to disagree. The only time we have showed confidence at the back is when Vinny has played. An example last night was when MDM played the ball to Mangala and he panicked and missed the ball completely that should have resulted in a clear chance for Kiev.

We haven't won two games in a row in the league since October. For me that is because of a lack of confidence throughout the team.

I was there (I am a season ticket holder and on the CL scheme not that I should have to justify myself to you). Fairy nuff. I came back from the match to read a shower of negativity a lot of it time stamped just after the match finished. The trouble is the rag fans (including those in the media) read this pages and they revel in the negativity and will do so every day until Sunday. If those rags say that there are more moaners on here than were at the ground last night it is not easy to disagree.

A typical comment from people around me last night, as well as from blues I know personally was 'it's going to be a fucking stinker on Sunday'.

That's actually the view of most rag fans I know. That win lose or draw, it will be fucking shite, because it's two piss boring teams lacking in confidence managed by has beens.

Not heard many crowing about us being shite, or laughing at our comments, mostly just a case of 'yeah I know, so are we'.

If both teams play the way they have been doing, it will be the worst standard derby for many many years.

Not always the case of course that two average teans serve up a shit game though.

I just don't think picking out isolated incidents is a fair representation of the game as a whole. I've seen not a single C/B pairing in the league with the exception of maybe Huth and whoever the journeyman next to him is, not make basic errors. Been the season for it. Fucking hell Chelsea couldn't defend to save their lives with Mourinho in charge for the first four months of the season.

For me what's more worrying and more important, is that our attacking players find form and find a spark.

With high expectations come harsh realities.
I've had it great the last couple of years and the next few are no doubt going to be pretty good as well.
Before that I didn't see us lift a trophy until just after my 35th birthday. The last thing we won before that was a year before I was born in 1976 so I can appreciate the lean times. It doesn't stop me from thinking we could be even better off under the right guidance than we are now. That's all there is to it.

What we certainly can't cope with is things not being right at both ends of the pitch. We have been tighter at the back (Anfield aside) with Vinny back but have not really been good enough going forward. If we are honest, we pretty much know we are going to let in goals with regularity now that he's injured again so now, you're right, it is all about getting the attacking part of our game functioning ASAP. We know we have the players to do it, I'm not sure why it has gone so far off the boil or how it can be corrected.

People misinterpret being negative about the current manager & his underperforming team, as being negative about City.

The two are totally unconnected in my case. It is because of the huge positivity that I have for the club, the squad & the academy that it does my head in watching this useless old troll drag it scratching & wheezing along the floor when it could, & should be flying, right now.

I feel like we're a team caught between two stools this season. We have since Mancini's days been a possession based team which likes to keep the ball and pass the opposition to death. We lacked pace but we made up for that by passing teams to death and with clever movement. However we started this season in scintillating form as a much more counter attacking side with pace down both flanks in Sterling and Navas and Silva essentially playing in a midfield trio with Toure and Dinho. Maybe it's too much to say we were a counter attacking side, but we had the balance absolute spot on so we could keep possession if we needed to, but counter if we needed.

For various reasons that balance has slowly gone out of the side and we've only seen it really in the CL since those early parts of the season. Like many of these things depending on your point of view you can blame the manager solely, you can blame injuries + the manager, or you can blame the weather or the Pep announcement. For me I'd just like to see us give a really good account of ourselves in the what's left of the CL and what's left of the league.

You're making an absolute idiot of yourself, I have been a season ticket holder since 1989 when I was first in a position to buy one. You know nothing about me and this is my point. If you look (I'm sure you can't be arsed), you will find that I didn't post yesterday between about 3pm and this morning at about 9am because I now live in Wales so I have to leave fairly early and I get back fairly late. But you know people can post on here on a smart phone from the ground and I have done that in the past so even people posting doesn't necessarily prove anything. You just sound like someone trying to say that you're a better blue than others and that your opinion is more valid and I hate that. The reason I specifically took exception to your post was that I think you were putting forward some kind of narrative that the negative posters are all part of your "armchair brigade" which firstly got on my tits because I was there, can't really be accused of being an armchair fan but felt like it was a lazy attempt to devalue the opinion of all posters who are currently being negative (which would include my opinion hence me picking you up on it). And I was interested in what I see as a ridiculous irony that the person you were wholeheartedly agreeing with and mentioning the armchair brigade to probably didn't go. Those sort of incidents have been happening all season in our defence. I would also say Van Dijk/Fonte along with Alderweild/Vertoghen have been better centre half pairings than ours.

I also believe the biggest weakness in our defence is the way we play the offside trap. We hold the 18 yard line. This is a visible line that helps the attacking team when trying to break it down. Making it easier fort hem to time their runs. The fact our defence has been poor has put pressure on our forwards to score at least 2 per game. Of course there are other teams with poor defences, but I am only concerned about City.
