Martin Lipton: City Not Big Enough For The CL

Wasnt he the one who kept going on and on about our premier league defence being the worst ever, the season we finished 2nd?! Year later the scum were having a worst premier defence and not a peep from him.

The other day you said a poster was accused of being 'pidge', which I presumed was something rather than someone. Now it's clear 'pidge' is a poster?

You must spend a lot of time on here if you gauge actual personalities from the forum.

For the record, I have no idea what or who pidge is. Keep on though. Nothing wrong with what I've said in this thread.
Come on now , there's no need for that is there pidgey lad?

We are not big enough for it? yet we are still in it, bit of a thick **** Mr Lipton if you ask me

Probably one of the greatest contributors to this Forum ever. True or not, you can be proud of such an association.
Thanks, I think.
Not trying to be anyone. I've lurked around here off and on and then got pointed back to it a month or so ago and thought I'd speak up.

So far I'm a **** for being positive when things are so clearly shit we might as well sell up and go back to the Carl Griffiths era, and now I'm being compared to another poster because I've took the time to read the article being posted about here rather than go directly off the thread title.

Just read it out of interest.
Load of fresh air about nothing really
The long established clubs get more tv ratings from abroad, yadayada, and therefore would get automatic places. We, who are apparently not as popular, which may or may not be true, would have to qualify through a high place finish. Other auto places given to the regulars from Spain, Germany and PSG from France. Ajax too.

Like I say, a load of fresh air about nothing.

For hilarity I prefer the mirrors article about the thief Wazza.

The title of the thread is slightly misleading too.
Tbf it's hard to become popular when the popular media are always denigrating you making you out to be cheats, small, no fans, crooks, mercenaries, dirty etc etc

While trying not to stray even further into the realms of off topic......I think the reason, one or two....are suspicious of you is because of your initial 'bull in a china shop approach' - how quickly you put your feet under the table and your 450 posts in just 3 weeks...... You seem a good character though whoever you are/were ;-)

Definitely see that point, but the article is slightly different to the thread title is all i was saying. Personally a journalists opinion, and therefore the afflicted opinion of someone somewhere doesn't really bother me. Never has. The club is growing at a good rate I would say, and what we do on the pitch talks more than sone cross eyed bald **** who works for the sun.

The poster SWP said something similar. I'm almost 40 mate and left 'trying to fit in' back in senior school. Take me as I come. It's just the Internet after all.

Lipton may have a point.

On Thursday night I was watching a full match repeat of a really big European game between United and Liverpool at Old Trafford from the 70s or early 80s. Back in the days when the UEFA cup was on a par with the European Cup or the Cup Winners Cup. Absolutely incredible atmosphere. The scousers were all singing about Munich, and the rags were singing about thieves and murderers, they were all throwing stuff at each other and there were pitched battles all over the place. The football was dogshit, they were clattering each other all over with elbows going in and all sorts. These days that game would have ended up with about seven players on each side. Funny though, the pitch was bad but not the swamp I remember.

That's the pedigree of European football's elite that Lipton is on about.

I just think we are light years away from that level.

I think a quite a few posters are missing the point of the article. It isn't really a pop at City it is part of that word we are not allowed to use on here..... Agenda. His article is a back dor way of convincing people that we need a european league where those clubs with History (and little else these days) can battle it out. The giants like ergh those that cant beat minnows in the Europa League can battle against the mighty Bayern Munich.
He has clearly been wordd to promote the elite league by his puppet masters just ;ike the yank who said Leicester should not be in it.
