The pre match in stadium entertainment/build up is shocking

I wonder if anyone could pass these comments on to someone at the club who could do something about it? There's obviously a consensus that what is being served up is well shit.
It was discussed at the Points of Blue meeting last night and the point was made was that it was probably aimed at the "new breed" of fan who the club feel need a "matchday experience". The regulars find it cringe-worthy but do they know if the new fans even like it? The club have asked for feedback from the meeting so they will be getting it on this topic.

I was making exactly the same point in the office yesterday.

For years, we had an ageing 30,000, close knit, hardcore support, and were respected by the vast majority of other clubs, in the same way that Munich 1860 are admired in Germany.

Everything changed when we moved to the new stadium and in doing so, alerted the attention of the Billionaire investors.
We were told that we wouldn’t fill the ETIHAD, but we did.
We were ridiculed for increasing our capacity, but now we’re averaging 53,000.

Everything should be positive, but in Marketing strategy it makes sense to alienate the original support because we’re not the future.

In fact in Marketing parlance, we’re termed “Hostages” because we’ll grumble to ourselves, but still buy the product, as opposed to the “Mercenaries” who will shop around looking for value.

In the meantime, the higher the attendance, the less I feel part of the experience.

Im another season ticket rise away from ripping up 24 years worth of going home and away. The whole thing is fuking shite now. Was brilliant after the take over the club really embraced the fans but that has stopped. Gone about it the whole wrong way, we should have been the pioneers in putting fans first aka Dortmund and the like but instead they want a greedy business like the scum.

Matchday experience.

Three pints of excellent Holt's Bitter, a good steak pie and a pound left over from a tenner straight into the East Stand allowing just enough time to get rid of some of those three pints before KO

City Square ? No thank you.

Personally I don't think you can expect them not to cater to the new breed of fans/none hardcore but it's fair to say things mentioned like drowning out pre-match chants and being all around too in your face with it right up till kickoff... they'd be daft not to listen to those complaints. If they do things to cater to other tastes whilst not impacting too much on the old-school support then nobody should be complaining.

The thing is to fill the stadium up and grow demand further City need both sets of fans or that doesn't happen, to compete with the top clubs in Europe the prices might eventually start looking a lot more like theirs too for some games but that should be gradual(not agreeing with the PSG prices as it's too soon to justify it but just compare prices to the clubs we are aiming to compete with like Real or Barca rather than the absolute no hopers). Question is do you want a City that's going to eventually seriously challenge for the champions league title or do you genuinely want to go back to the City of old in all ways? You are going to have to give some leeway, maybe some sacrifice as nothing is ever truly free it comes at a price somewhere along the line.

TBH we have been banging on about this topic on BM for years. But the club have slowly added more and more cheese on top of more cheese, year after year.

I've alresdy touched on the animated clapping hands, with 'come on City' underneath. Then there was the not funny at all sketch in the booth at half-time. Etc.

What's wrong with just playing some back ground music at half-time, while fans chat, think, ponder, and take a breather? Why do we need to be bombarded with celebs(?), pointless chat, pitch games, un-funny sketches, etc?

I have meetings with the club and mention the cheesy cringe pre match stuff, it is noted then the same happens week after..

More annoying is the controller of the camera that takes over the big screen highlights when the players come on the pitch. It never shows the displays in the south stand, but on sunday when the rags scored the camera panned over to the rags fans that quick to show them celebrating that it shook up and down, it stayed on their fans for a while to but never does that when city score.

Cameraman from BT or Sky or whoever takes over the big screen viewing on KO is obviously a rag.. It stinks, fall off your platform and break a leg you prick !

The thing is that we were all new fans/non hardcore once, and it wasnt cheese that made us fall in love with it.

Is it different now, or have the club misjudged what new and old supporters really want?

I don't really know the answer to that(although I bet they do that market research jazz before investing in this stuff), I'm guessing the City square has it's audience though and that must be the new fans if most of the hardcore support skip that on match day.

i was the same with that 2 tribes bollocks...wanted to get under my fuckin seat

2 tribes was played on either the last or 2nd to last Derby at Maine Rd so that's not a new cheesy initiative.

Also, was anyone unfortunate enough to be in the ground for the match on or around Valentine's Day this season? They did that American style kiss cam, I was cringing so badly my neck nearly burst out.

Christ that was bad Spurs at home I think. I was in the concourse and I was cringing like mad seeing that on the tv screens.

"What do you think the score will be?"
"4 - O Come on you Blues!!!!!"

11 match day mascots holding hands with the players.

"hold your cards up so everyone can see."

"We play (ha) for you!!"

Instructions on how to respond on the screen

I mean - what's not to like??
