Ref for Saturday - West Brom (h)

Not just that but we actually won that game so the fact we were pissed off wasn't down to sour grapes. Just another shit performance from a supposedly top flight ref.

Ive never suggested sour grapes. City fans are pretty consistent in their belief of a widespread conspiracy. The bashing of refs is, for some, another strain of it.

You're needed on the 'last eight' thread. :-)

You interpret any criticism of anything as City fans claiming conspiracy. Whether they are claiming conspiracy or not.

It's no wonder you have the flawed impression of our supporters that you do.

I should say some City fans are consistent there is a conspiracy. If you honestly do not think that and you have been around the forum as long as you have that is quite remarkable.

A small minority are, and nowhere near as consistent as you are in making out theres more to it than a small minority.

So are we saying if the thread was more recent city fans would no longer thing he is inept and a cheat??

Would he have changed then and now be honest and conpetent??

Also if feelings are not running high should we expect peoples opinions to be different??

If so I could not agree more. Refs, Bias are threads emotions always run high in because a lot of City fans believe there is some widespread conspiracy against us. Maybe a more rational view would lend itself to the conclusion they are not all inept and biased.

You asked me for City fans of a certain ref and I provided it. Apologies if you did not like the results. No loading of dice, they are others views not mine.

No goalposts moving here my friend :-)

Erm, no, what you said was, "I long for the day a ref appointment is announced without the usual outcry.......etc."
I therefore expected you to present me with evidence of wholesale ranting over the appointment (ie. before the match in question had taken place) of a particular referee. What you did instead was present me with evidence of wholesale ranting about a particular referee just hours after said referee had officiated one of our games like a complete cnut. Ex post facto. Like I said, moving the goalposts.
And kudos on focussing exclusively on the relatively minor issue I raised regarding your having to wind the clock back 3 years for your example, and completely ignoring the main point (which I had helpfully emphasised with the words "and more importantly") outlined in the first 3 lines above

Sadly Exeter Blue I was unable to find any reference to Mariner pre match.
As I was advised people may think differently about this ref I did manage to find a thread about him and the overall impression was negative.

Maybe City fans would change there view pre-match but without having such a thread an overall impression of the ref should be a good guide. Im sure if you could find a thread which highlights support pre match for Mariner that would certainly challenge my view and we can discuss this.

West Brom seem to have already finished for the summer.

i can only see an easy flat track win even after whatever happens in France.
Sunderland would disagree. That was a typical Pulis performance

This game takes place in a PSG sandwich. That takes a lot of focus and resource away from this game. Every time you get a Champions League round you get shocks at the weekend. happens time and time again.

I don't need to find anything supportive for Marriner, or Atkinson, Moss, Oliver, Probert or any of the rest of them (other than the 3 I mentioned earlier), because I never suggested such a thing might exist. What I was disputing was your inference that every refereeing appointment announcement was the catalyst for a Blue tinted meltdown. For what it's worth, I broadly support your contention that much of the ranting about referees 'cheating' that does go on on here is unrealistic nonsense, but it isn't wholesale IMO and equally I would contend that a few of their (referees) number are susceptible to bias, be it either deliberate or unconscious
