Minutes Applause - 12 mins today - Cyril Mintz

Wouldnt it be more tasteful, and less 'Liverpool' if there is such a concept, to put his photo up on the big screens and have the stadium announcer make mention of it before the game?

No disrespect but we have at the game nearest christmas a chance to remember blues who have sadly passed away
I feel this is the way it should stay

I hope all you cunts get the clap when I kick the bucket..............Of course you'll be cheering when I'm gone..............BUT I'm fucking going nowhere ..even when I'm dead.

I haven't seen you post in a while (may have missed them) so assumed you had croaked it already. I want my claps back.

RIP Cyril, but we need to get out of this clapping habit.

I did wonder how many City fans on average die between home games. If you assumed 80,000 match attending fans (current or before they became too old or ill) with a life expectancy of 80 years isn't that very, very, very roughly 1,000 every year? 40 ish every fortnight?

Ill give him a clap at 12 minutes because he gave me a laugh on the best day of my career as a City supporter. His comments after that game will be seen for years to come by City fans and non City fans, I'll bet he makes them laugh as well.

I got pointed in the direction of " let's not forget past blues " Facebook page ( fantastic work from Eddie on that page btw) when me brother past and it's quite surprised me how many young and old we lose on a weekly basis ...

I disagree with the notion of in-game applause completely. Life and love and death are absolutely more important that football in the grand scheme of things, but for 90 minutes every other week (for the majority of our match-going fans), it's good to focus only on football. Do whatever you like pre-match or at half time, but fans should be present and focus on what's going on on the pitch, not staring at the clock.

Very good point mate.

Football has always been an escape from the daily grind for me as well and the last thing you want is to be sat there thinking about what you have to do at a certain minute of the game.

I suppose it's there if people want to join in and if you don't want to, like me, then you don't have too.

I would like to echo these thoughts.

I don't think anyone who saw that vid or obviously knew Cyril wasn't saddened by his passing, but I won't be clapping today. Does that mean I'm not respectful or I'm not sad that he's passed away? Of course not. As @noely says we have a time for where the normal bunch of us who die are remembered. Any reason why we shouldn't leave it at that?

Point fingers at 'candlepool' every 5 minutes then expect 54000 people to stand and applaud every time one of those 54,000+ City fans passes away. Embarrassments
