Minutes Applause - 12 mins today - Cyril Mintz

I hope all you cunts get the clap when I kick the bucket..............Of course you'll be cheering when I'm gone..............BUT I'm fucking going nowhere ..even when I'm dead.
Be sure and check that with St Peter when the time comes.

Thought the club got it spot on today by playing the video just before kick off. No need for any in game stuff.

I knew Cyril better than most but even I agree that these tributes are getting out of hand. Mention it, put a picture up by all means but we really don't need these in-game clapping minutes.

PB did you ever do that interview with Cyril ? if so where can i find it

RIP and all that but christ we can't acknowledge the death of every supporter like it's a major club event

I did wonder how many City fans on average die between home games. If you assumed 80,000 match attending fans (current or before they became too old or ill) with a life expectancy of 80 years isn't that very, very, very roughly 1,000 every year? 40 ish every fortnight?
By the same calculation that makes it 329500 United fans dead every fortnight. Every cloud really does have a silver lining if you look hard enough.

The club celebrated his life pre game which I was extremely happy to join in with the applause for.

This may make me look like a ****, but I agree with your sentiment. He was a longstanding fan, and all credit to him for that. I've been a fan since the early seventies so I realise it's not been easy at times to stick with the club. But we all do it. Not sure why it warrants a minute's applause, to be honest. It's getting to the point where there seems to be some sort of tribute every week somewhere (not just us, by the way). If it's a former manager, or one of our highly regarded past players, I fully understand that. But for a fan? Really? And I apologise to any of Cyril's family or friends in advance. This is in no way meant as a slight on the man himself; I didn't even know the man, so I'm in no position to pass any kind of judgement on him. It's more a criticism of the growing trend of tributes in football. I realise that by speaking out, I expect to get dog's abuse. Fair enough. As I've said, it's nothing personal against Cyril. Hopefully, he's at peace and cheering us on today.
Totally agree, It's happening far too often now.

Perhaps what should be done instead would be a kind of gallery of lost Blues at the last home game of each season. The supporters could inform the club about deceased Blues, and there could be a minute of joint "RIP-clapping", while pictures are shown on the big screens. Like they do at the Oscars. I think this could be a nice way of honoring the lost.
