Same process for semi final confirmed

Do you really think they are doing it to prevent these nasty mythical points whores? If they cared who had the tickets they wouldn't give so many to corporates and day trippers would they, and be so casual with distribution to supporters clubs.

Nailed it jess.

Not odd at all, short notice prevented us going to Kiev and illness prevented us attending Paris. People have tight budgets and can only afford a couple of European trips away so may well have chosen group stage games instead of the knockout stages. I'll be at the semi final home and away but depending on whether we are home or away first the wife may miss the away leg due to being unable to get the time off work, that may mean she went to Seville but not to Kiev, Paris or the semi final away, odd?, no just circumstances.
There won't be 600 that suddenly can't make it.

It's a shame that the whores have took the piss,we can no longer help a blue out. If 6 blues go to all games possible it's a shame the guy on 7k points can't have a ticket sourced for him. There is no easy answer to this.

I have 10,500 points and always fall sort for bigger matches, including CL away games. I went to Barcelona and Seville, getting tickets through friends both times. I'd like to take my (adult) son - he has 4,500 points as he's not had his season ticket that long - to the semi but with this system there's an outside chance of me getting a ticket but no chance of us both getting to the match :-(

And that is exactly why this system has been introduced. I am in the same boat regarding my son, as are thousands of others. What happened under the old system those with 14,000 points bought them never intending to go and flogged them to anyone. That meant both you and your son could not go. Now at least you can. Whatever City do they wil be criticised.

Might get a lot dissagree but anyone who hasn't attended a european game home or away should be not allowed first dibs no matter the loyalty points. I have know a few lads who are 15000+ but don't go to the cup games in any competition but always go to semi's and finals. should be same criteria as the league cup final cup schemers first and also add any non cup schemers with european game purchases on their card historyhome or away this season. This passing on of points that stops people getting more points leading to them borrowing cards needs to even out. (this is from someone who has borrowed cards to get tickets to turin but would rather have been able to use my own card).

May I add the platinum scheme has been a right divisive measure in all this loyalty point business, basically pay extra to leapfrog others. I went platinum first year it was introduced, but back to gold after, my mate who had to get a new season card the other year after time out working away has been platinum all the time simply to boost his points back up to the level they would have been without the year out. So the club are points whoring too

I've got over 15,000 points, attended 10 European aways since 2003 with tickets bought on my own seasoncard, and have only ever bought tickets for 2 other European away games that I didn't attend myself - Midtjylland away and Barcelona away the first time round. This was only because a couple of mates had asked me to help them out. Of all the other European aways that I didn't do, I didn't apply for a ticket for any of them even though I could have just to flog them on to any randomer. So not everyone on 14,000+ points routinely buys European away tickets with no intention of attending any of them and I'm guessing plenty of people have just done something similar to me - attended a fair few games, helped a mate out on the odd occasion when I've not been going, and not even been remotely interested in applying for any of the others because believe me, when I've helped a mate out the last thing I'm arsed about is the extra points.

This new system will indeed stop the blatant points whores and those just a bit further down the ladder get a better chance so in that sense it can't be argued with. You also said yourself that it might stop some of the knobheads travelling. However, it will also stop a lot of genuine lads and lasses from travelling who at least had a hope of getting a ticket if they did enough networking and I wouldn't mind betting that a knock-on effect of genuine blues not travelling could dilute the atmosphere around some of these trips in future. Pros and cons really.

I think the club should reward those that supported the club through thick and thin over many years.

That for me means jumping the queue for tickets. They've earned it.

Agree on platinum though. Really hate it.

Oh I agree but I have supported and know people who have also supported the club throught thick n thin 25yrs+ but recent times work commitments, family changes, redundency has meant maybe a year or 2 not going (as in the last 5 years not when we were crap when a game was never missed). they 2have that whole record expunged. your loyal support isn't recognised as you have to start again. I do know they hold your points for a period if you stay a member or cityzen, but still anyone who has been going for years, but can't be arsed going to a cup game home or away has no more right than someone who has been to them all (with the aways probably off borrowed cards) to go to a semi or final just because it is a semi or a final.

Hopefully being stricter with away tickets will even it out and people will eventually be able to use their cards not someone elses to go away in europe

There's always going to be collateral damage with any change to the system but this can only be seen as a positive step forward. Logistically it's impossible to have a similar process for domestic games but i hope City can come up with a different method of achieving similar results for domestic games

You need only look at the PSG game to see the point whores are far from mythical. I agree corporate tickets and supporters clubs are still an issue but they don't suddenly mean point whores aren't a problem and again judging from the PSG game it would seem the point whoring is a bigger issue at present.

The majority using cards in another persons name do so because it offered some additional benefit over having a seasoncard in their own name, the primary reason being having a card with loyalty points on it already, enabling them to jump ahead of others, not all do this, some share cards due to cost etc and i have sympathy for them but that's the price you pay for bending the rules and they must of known at some point down the line not having their name on the card they use would hinder them in some way.

I'm not revelling in any City fan not being able to go to a game. i'm simply pleased that thousands of others will get to go to games they should qualify for but have missed out on over the years because of these mythical point whores.

You've mentioned in another post how the fans who have missed out for certain games could of built up there points at the likes of Sunderland away midweek etc. This is an often used argument on here that simply doesn't have any legs when you actually think about it. Aside from the obvious issue of not knowing what games the fans just missing out have attended and the high probability that they have infact attended all of the less popular games as in all likelihood they're the only games they can get tickets for, the main problem with that arguement is those games are not frequent enough for anybody to catch up enough to be able to get tickets to the more popular games. For every Sunderland away that goes to open sale, they've missed out on 5/6+ games that have sold out before reaching their criteria, therefore leaving them a further 200 points behind the people they are trying to catch.

Pretty sure I've never mentioned Sunderland away midweek. It's not a game I would be able to get to and I understand there are plenty others thar can't. But there are plenty of weekend games people could have gone to, a surprising amount go down to about 5 or 6k points and many down to no points. I myself cannot afford to go to them all, and some seasons I've only got to 2 or 3 of them, so it really wouldn't take long to overtake me - 13k ish, which would give them enough to go to most games but not the biggest ones, which are quite rightly reserved for those with the most points. There might be a few people who sell their tickets on but it won't be thousands and how do you know they are the ones with loads of points anyway?

Paris was different from the average game. It was expensive, especially after all the other extra games this season including a wembley trip and some were concerned about the terrorism threat and the small allocation we were expecting after what chelsea got. People on under 11 or 12k points will not have expected to qualify for tickets but when it eventually went on sale to them it is far too late then to book affordable travel, hence an increasingly low take up on the remaining tickets as the criteria went lower and lower

@blue_jess - Would you views on the process be different had you transferred the name on the season ticket when you took over it? As i said it is harsh as YOU have earned the points, yet there is no proof it was you and not who had the ticket before hand. Family member had to lose previous points gained on the ticket when she took over and started from scratch

Before the rags introduced this policy didn't they announce an amnesty on season tickets so they could be put into the names of the people that actually use them? Might be worth doing at City.

I think I would feel the same as I would appreciate that some people hadn't thought to do this. My mum actually spoke to danny wilson about it years ago and he said at the time city knew that there were loads of cases of families swapping or sharing season tickets and they didn't have a problem with it at all.
I don't think we should be subjected to the hassle of this ticket pick up business anyway, especially when corporates (who jump the queue) aren't subjected to the same.

You beat me to it - they did indeed have an amnesty for those using the season tickets of people who were deceased or no longer attending for whatever reason. The amnesty was a fair few years before they introduced this "collect in destination" policy so I'm not sure whether the 2 processes were linked in any way.

Are you sure the corporates didn't have to pick their tickets up in Paris?

i am someone who will miss out this new system, but totally understand and support it.

I've done 20+ European aways and had to watch PSG from the Paris end, and will have to watch a fair few more this way until I amass enough points.

I'll still go though, as the trips themselves are well worth it, even watching from the home end.

I do genuinely feel as you have no doubt earned your points since taking over the ticket. Harsh thing is, you have to come clean and start as fresh. May be the club could implement the amnesty that Man Ure brought in. Bank details should show you got the tickets. Fingers crossed for you
