FFS! Airline rip-off!

€72 return from Dublin when I booked them, €91 now, might be worth a diversion for some of you.

But 2 nights in Dublin before the flight, a 2 - 0 victory in Madrid and a Champions League Final to look forward to and you may never get back home from Dublin before May 28th, by which time you'll be broke, pissed and looking for flights to Milan. Sounds like a plan.

Book a hotel for the night in Madrid? Just to be safe. As long as you have a bed for the night then you'll be fine.

I’ll be okay

I’ve done Madrid a few times, and done both the Bernabeu and the Vicente Calderon. However, like everybody else, I was trying to plot a route, that didn’t jump from £49 to £249 in the space of a couple of minutes, and didn’t involve killing time at tedious expensive airports at daft o'clock,or praying that the game didn’t go to Extra Time, because the last train out of Madrid was at 23:15.

I played a blinder for our games in Gelsenkirchen and Poznan, but made a schoolboy error for Salonika. It’s all part of the fun I suppose.

Funny, because once we set foot in Madrid, none of us will think twice about paying 6 euros for a beer.

East midlands to Valencia for us. Night in Valencia train to Madrid wed am.About £300 all in flights, train, digs , parking and fuel
£299 for a day trip is a piss take

And that's before your beer money, food, match ticket etc etc

It'll be worth every penny !!

An ideal trip for me would be getting there the day before by midday and leaving the day after around the same time. 48 hours is usually enough.

I'm not being funny but what do you expect the national airline of a Middle East country to do about this? They have no landing slots, licences, or planes to put flights on for this.

yeah, i know you arent and i wasnt being funny either, you'd just hope they have european division in the future would be an advantage.

You lucky barsteward...im going to make a major complaint....10 of us paid £58....we want our £4 each back!!

How did you lot all find this deal from Birmingham?

I ended up paying £180 in the end, and it's not even direct. How long was that price knocking around for? Were you just trying your luck with random major airports?

True.

But if you think back to when AC played Inter in the CL final at OT, most of the planes that brought the fans were chartered just for the final. Manchester Airport managed to find them all landing slots. They even managed to keep the fans apart by using 2 different Terminals.

I'm sure City could arrange their own flights from Manchester, just like Spike does. It's whether the club want's to go down this road or not. ATM it doesn't.

Let's see what happens if we get to Milan. I can tell you now, flights are already filling up, and Hotels are pretty much sold out. The going rate is roughly £200 a night for average Hotel. 1 Hotel wants nearly £6000 for 3 nights.

How do I know? I've jumped the gun on Milan. Booked my flights with Ryan Air via Dublin. Booked my Hotel as well. Sorry, but I'm not getting caught up in an impossible mad scramble for flights and a Hotel room. 20,000 to 30,000 City fans heading to Milan. If City don't make it I will just go for a CL Weekend in Milan. That's the risk I've decided to take.
The hotel situation in Milan is mad at the moment, but it's only to be expected at this stage as there are lots of speculators bumping the prices up. The prices for the lower-end hotels are currently outrageous, but there's tons of capacity in the city and I guarantee they'll come down once it gets narrowed down to just 2 teams. That said, we're getting slightly ahead of ourselves here ;)

I think there will be more than a few of us in that boat already. I managed to snag some absurdly cheap flights to Verona a while back, that covered the weekend of the CL final. If City make it then Milan is an hour/90 mins on train, if not then I have a relaxing weekend in Verona to look forward to :)

I cannot begin to imagine how much its gonna cost if we get past Madrid and then people start booking. Worth every penny of course!

Booked and can't wait as this will be the first Euro away trip for me and son

Going Tuesday with easyjet from Gatwick for £290 return for the two of us but the only drawback is driving back to Manchester at 11.00pm on the Thursday

Can ayone who's a regular on these trips hazard a guess at our chances of tickets. We are on the cup scheme but I believe he has to qualify in his own right and has 4500 points.

I'd like to know how they found it too as I didn't see that one

I did a bit of research on Skyscanner earlier in the week ahead of the draw and saw the Brum flights with Norwegian Air sat at just over £50. Trouble is, I could only do the away leg if it was the first leg as I couldn't get the time off work if it was the second leg. Then yesterday I got permission from work to go after all but only about 20 minutes after the date of the 2nd leg was announced. At that point the flights were around the £100 mark but by the time I'd gone through the booking process they'd gone up several times and I eventually got mine for £175. I'm reasonably happy with that as I was prepared to go up to £250 and with train travel to and from Brum it's come in at just over £220. Good flight times too compared to some others - all being well, get there around lunchtime the day before and fly back at 9.10am the day after the match which is a bit early so will have to watch my drinking on the night of the match.

Cheers, would have been a better bet for me as I have to get to Leicester on the Friday, never mind, booked from Stansted from Tuesday to Thursday

Me and the wife going.Met some lads in Paris who went via Dublin so had a look and its better than Manchester prices, all in about £500.

Arrive Dublin Tues am,have a day there and into Madrid 8ish.Leave Madrid at around 5pm on Thursday going back the same route with Ryan Air and Air Lingus.Used Skyscanners then booked direct using the airlines website after the bad feedback on here for that shower of shite cheapoflights or whatever they are called.

We've done similar and are also on the 520 flight on Thursday from Madrid to Dublin.

We fly from Dublin to Madrid at 615am match day.

My thoughts exactly, ideally with direct return flights from Manchester.

I think I’ve managed it once haha

There’s a a bit of a snag with every route on this thread, and mine’s no exception (Tuesday train from Stockport to Gatwick-early evening flight to Madrid: return flight Thursday 7am)

Hopefully, this will only involve 2 days holiday because I work in Stockport, and can start around lunchtime.

You're a braver man than me. I got back from Seville on the Wednesday night and didn't go back to work until the Friday. I needed time to settle again!

if any of the airlines had half a brain they would clean up. if I was ryan air I'd put an ad out the day before the draw saying, Manchester to either munich or Madrid 200 quid. nobody gets it for 50 nobody pays 300, just a straight forward 200 brick and the plain would be full in minutes. no mad dash or laptops crashing just a nice easy process. after the draw is made you pay the money and go looking for your digs. easy peasy. airlines rip us off as it is and they should be investigated.

Thompson sport doing a one dater for £299 including all transfers and quite usefully the handing out of your ticket on the plane.

Also one nighter for £389.

Seems a lot but for those where cash isn't really an issue then it seems a decent option including not having to take too much time off work.
