Just - do me a favour - do not take everything as a religion like some Bayern fans did it - I am not sure that he thinks the same about some topics today than he did then. He for sure acts differently. In my eyes a lot has changed in the recent seasons - it is about the first year at Bayern. And that is just normal. You come from one world that you really know and have your match ideas from this - from that team, that club, that league. Now you work with a total different set of players - with different strength - and in a league in which the teams play different. Guardiola - so he for sure did not loose his basic game ideas or strategies he likes - went through a bigger learning period at Bayern than he probably did at Barcelona even if that was his first job.

The Balague one is more of a personal biography and about his success.

The one regarding tactics you are after, is Pep Confidential. It's based solely on his first season at Bayern, with snippets of his previous work. Very in depth mate, can get a bit tedious but a good read if you want some real insight into his training methods and personality.

WHSmith or Waterstone's have it for around £15.

Yes good point Maldeika I was thinking along the same lines as I am reading it his evolution/revolution at City will be no doubt different but hopefully effective within a three month time span.He is a very deep thinker yet flexible to ever changing situations ? on the pitch,to me that seems to be his greatest strength, would you agree Maldeika ?

What are your thoughts about Guardiola? Do you like him? Do you think he's as good as the press (and his trophy cabinet) portray? Will he be a success in England?

I do not know if he will have an immediate impact or if it will take awhile. When he took over Bayern they already were a very disciplined team that was the second best ball possession team in Europe (even if some only see the match against Barcelona in which Bayern was working differently). Players in the right age - old and young ones. No big problems in the dressing room.

If you look from outside into the results of your team it seems like there is other problems than just tactical problems or problems with playing that keep your team from more success and in addition to coping with new opponents, a new league, a new club, new players he has to integrate new players, getting rid of old, implementing a new playing style and solving dressing room problems.

Why it always functioned with the Bayern players is that the Germans as well as the Spanish players are a very sophisticated bunch. Very intelligent players Pep could catch with the way he worked, how he had several match plans and with the preparation for the matches. I am not so sure he had a big influence on the dressing room - but that is led by players that know how to get everybody in one boat. And Pep did not try to question one of the "bigger" players.

To a special point he is flexible - sometimes he surprises you how flexible he can be - but he makes his mistakes.

Pep is coming to the most competitive league in the world and I absolutely guarantee he will preside over losses to relegation candidates and will struggle to win titles and cups with the ease that he has done at Barca and Bayern....but then he knows that and would be off to PSG if he didnt want that challenge.....I do though fear for our fans if they think otherwise.

I think pep is going to have an easier transition at city as opposed to Bayern. City almost play the pep way.playing out from the back with a couple of players who are good at working with the ball in tight Corners. Unlike his 1st season at Bayern I think he would be granted the liberty to make all the recruitment he would require. after his 1st season at Bayern he still did nit feel the bayern team was his own, that would not be the case here am pretty sure that wheels are already in motion to provide him with all the tools he would require.
