The battle for 4th place

We can bet on the "institution" helping the rags any way they can, starting with making sure Vardy is banned for it. Can't you just guarantee that?

I fully expect he will be and buoyed by that I think the rags might beat them at the swamp.

I think if the unimaginable happens and we don't beat Stoke, we've blown it. How ****ing stupid was it not playing our A game against Newcastle. I'm still fuming about it.

Still in our own hands this. I'm not worrying until we start having to rely on other teams to help us out.
10 pts from the next 4 games will be enough. Newcastle was a disappointment but the next 4 games are all winnable. 4 wins will see us finish 3rd so it's not all doom and gloom.
It's now up to the players that step over that white line.

He will be banned as he rightly got sent off for diving then proceeded to call the ref a ****. I hope he is banned as it's justice. If we lose out on top 4 it is because of our own failings and not on Vardy playing against the rags. You said as much yourself in your next sentance

Very nervous now. I think tomorrows game will make or break our top 4 chances. We win tomorrow and I think we will get over the line. I really don't see us winning against Arsenal, they give us a game every time we play them.

Well, thanks to this week's results, we now seem to have gone from a point where we expected to win the Stoke game, because we were on a roll, and would have played it in a relaxed but focussed manner, probably putting in an early goal exactly because of that, to a point where we have to win it, and will consequently be tight and nervy. But honestly, we should be beating Stoke at our place (Stoke, who have got nothing whatsoever to play for, in any direction), in any case. Otherwise, really, what is this squad worth?
Still think we'll get top four, but third place would have been definitely preferable. Could still happen. What we have in our hands is the Arsenal game at the Etihad (just as we had the rags in April 2012). Months back, I was convinced that would be the title decider. I'm now convinced that it's very simply the decider for third and fourth places.

We done the number crushing a week or so ago. City could afford a few bad results.

This RAG team ain't winning every game.

Calm down lads.

horrible feeling he will rotate on saturday vs stoke and we will drop more points.......
The fact that we are in this position fighting for forth is a huge blight on MP - the guy is a bang average manager
I don't think he's as good as that.

I can't think Hughes would have done worse with this squad three years in.

This is a man long in the tooth who knows his onions.

Relax. Not time to panic yet.

I keep reading posts about Pellegrini only being interested in th c/l but we won all the league games either side of the PSG games, he seems to have got those selections just right to me, and the changes against Newcastle were more or less enforced.
Playing Delph left wing

Toure and Nando centre midfield two

And bringing on Bony

None of those were enforced.

The gooners at home will be the season defining result. Win, and we are in great shape to finish 3rd.
Loose or draw, and we get ourselves into a potential trap in that ultimate game against the sheep-shaggers.

They have. As it stands now: LCFC, THFC, AFC and MCFC qualify for CL. Let's assume the Rags win the FA cup and finish 5th. Rags go into EL group stage, as FA Cup winners. WHFC would now go into the play off round of the EL. LFC would go into the EL 3rd qualifying round taking City's place as COC winners. If LFC win the EL, the Southampton would take that place as LFC would be in the CL.
Now that's clear, I'll retire to my bed!
Nope. Liverpool getting to the CoC final gets them nothing. Whatever we do or wherever we finish.

Shite at Newcastle, one of the reasons pelly is going, I know the players have to do it, but our results when we play the bottom teams is a disgrace, MOTIVATION, bet Mr Klopp would have got us a result , and we might have scored a goal at villa. Vital we win Saturday.
Yes we were Shite.

But the bit I highlighted is bollocks. We have the best record in the league against teams in the bottom half. We are flat track bullies.

A United fan at work reckons Stoke is a bigger game now for us than Madrid, and have to say I think I agree. We get two cracks at Madrid and they're a different class, a result is not expected, whereas on the other hand Stoke and Arsenal at home, Swansea and Bournemouth away, you'd like to think we are capable of three wins there minimum if we plan for those as our key games, not the other way around. Three of those have little to play for, and beat Arsenal and we could have top 4 confirmed before the last game.

Six games lads, seven if we're good enough, win them all and this season becomes epic. Unless Leicester turn over the scum then I think West Ham will be out of the race by the time they meet, and could do with them still in with a chance to catch united at least by then to be really fired up. Even given Arsenal's inconsistency it would be scandalous if they missed out now, looking at who they have left to play, though their is the fact that they have 2 of the 3 teams remaining in the relegation dog fight to play next, so if they don't fancy the scrap then they could slip and actually come to us needing a win.

Shite at Villa
Shite at Norwich
Shite at Newcastle
Shite at Sunderland, although somehow we won.

Bottom 4 clubs and we were fuckin woeful agaisnt them all away

That was to your we are good v the bottom sides post.

Said it would be tight. We might have blown it if we don't get maximum on Saturday.

Talking about where we dropped points, you can look at United against Palace recently.

We fucked up at home against United, it lost us breathing space.

Think we will still be going to Swansea needing a win.

It's not so much that we're not as good as them, it's the fact that we have one of the most tactically inept manager's in this league (he makes Alan Ball look like a genius).

At least under Mancini we could always turn up at the Etihad very confident of winning any game, now we're back to "Typical City", not knowing which team will turn up for the game and half the time not even knowing which players Manuel will pick for the game (I'm sure he uses a raffle ticket bin to select his players) :0

I think we'll be needing a win and other results to go our way!

Tomorrow is huge, a win gives us a positive lift ahead of Madrid, gives us an artificial cushion over United and means Arsenal have to win at Sunderland. It is an absolute must win and let's hope we finally win a 12.45 kick off.

A win tomorrow and Tuesday and the whole squad will be buzzing ahead of the Southampton trip.

I think Swansea will still be important but hopefully to decide whether we finish 3rd or 4th.

Yep that's pretty much how I feel. There used to be a confidence walking up Joe Mercer Way in me that just said "they'll have to good to beat us" - I've completely lost that feeling now, it's been replaced by a nervous feeling of dread. I really hope that changes next season under Josep Guardiola's management
