The reason we were all relieved when Mancini was sacked was because he fought back beyond the point where he could win, right up until the Everton game there was a chance we could get the second title. He was cynically and disgracefully undermined and he knew it. Those on here who wailed for his end from before he was appointed are generally the same folk who have blindly backed Manuel as team perfomance deteriorated. Many are conspicuous by their absence these days.
Over the years I have wondered if Mancini has been wronged and deserved some of my sympathy too, but in my opinion he has to bear the fruit of his fault. I did not want to criticize him actually, after all he has been gone for three years. But yesterday afternoon I read some news about Inter that made me thought back to his final days again. When asked what caused his team to falter despite being at the top of the table in the beginning of the season, he told the press that it was the players' fault.
To me Mancini and Pellegrini are pot and kettle, I don't think they are really bad managers, in fact quite good ones, but they each have their fatal flaws that make them unsuitable to take City to the pinnacle. I never really dislike them though, for I could think of many managers who are worse than them. Maybe in a parallel universe we would probably be managed by Mourinho:P So sometimes I don't get why there seem to be a small portion of fans who seem to take personal hate to either of them. Perhaps I'm not passionate enough.:)
